What's your favorite part of diaper making?

The snap press thread got me thinking... I love cutting out the fabric and setting the snaps. I don't mind sewing around the outside, but putting the elastic in is the pits! What's your favorite and most despised part of diaper making?

favourite part... trying them on baby for the first time (closely followed by topstitching since it makes it look so finished!)

Least favourite part... elastic casings. Actually, anything to do with elastic (closely followed by sewing on the aplix.)

I actually like most parts about diaper making though. Even the elastic and aplix brings me a fair amount of satisfaction.

I was just going to start a thread like this! I hate sewing on PUL...so sewing the layers together for a pocket diaper is probably my least favorite part...followed by making the casing for the back elastic.
My favorite part is probably topstitching...like Beth said it makes it look so finished.

I'd have to say the topstitching and putting the Aplix on the tabs. Mostly because that means it's almost done! I love having a finished product.

My least favorite would be cutting and marking the layers. Blah

My favorite is topstitching. I love seeing the finished product come together! My least favorite is a tie between sewing elastic and sewing on Aplix (which I haven't done in a long time since getting my snap press.) I dread doing both of those!

What a fun topic!

I love topstitching too. I don't mind sewing the layers together. My least fav are the snaps and elastic. I have no idea why the elastic bugs me, I don't find it hard. The snaps are just so tedious and when I have to do a lot at once it makes my back and shoulders sore.

i like all parts of diaper making. if i have to choose something i like least, it would be cutting.

FWIW, i don't make casings anymore, i use FOE. bind and elasticize in one step.

Serging! I do t&t/serged combo fitted diapers. The serging always goes so fast but topstitching can be a pain for me. ugh, cutting is such a drudgery... lol, I wish I had magic gnomes to do it.

Cutting the fabric is the worst. I love the sewing part. And buying the fabric is the most fun!

I love looking at the finished product... and dreaming of what to make next!

I like cutting and actual sewing the layers together

I LOVE cutting out fabric peices and sitting on the floor laying out different fabric combos for my diapers. BEWARE of leaving clothes on the floor, if you lay your diaper cuts out and you see how WONDERFUL that bathrobe looks with that fleece, it may have to be sacrificed to the diaper gods!

I hate hate hate when my sewing machine messes up in the middle of any part of diaper making, as long as i don't have to stop sewing, my seams can look like crap and I'll still be happy but when the bobbin pukes and I have to start picking stiches out, i hate the thing with a PASSION.

All in all, I love making diapers!

Swtladyfare, that is a GREAT description of that. My machine did that twice to me tonight! (stupid aplix on PUL step... it's enough to make any machine unhappy )

It always makes me feel like I did something wrong...

My favorite part is probably either picking the fabric or seeing the finished product on my little guy.

Least favorite part would be the elastic. Grrr.... I just cant get it right these days. My machine has been broken so I need to get back into making dipes. My other least favorite part would be when my machine has a mind of its own. Ugh. I could chuck it out the window sometimes! LOL

My favorite part is probably the turning and topstitching part, or maybe putting snaps on. My most hated, dreaded part is sweing the body layers and PUL together. Really, anything that involves sewing on the laminate part of PUL blows.

I love drawing out patterns, and hate cutting the pieces out.
