what do you mean "naturally" Many here have had success with Clomid. Have you talked to your doctor about this? Start there?

I had very irregular cycles after my m/c I took Clomid this month and as of yesterday I got a + on my opk! I did some research and then had a long discussion with my ob and found out he prescribed it for his own wife 4 times. They were having trouble with ovulation. I dont know of any non prescription methods right off hand.

Clomid is often a first line to try, but it is not natural, and it is not a miracle cure. You need to investigate whether you really are not ovulating, and if so, why not. You should read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler and start charting so that you can see whether you are ovulating. In addition, you need more info from your doctor as to what makes him/her think you are not ovulating and get a full battery of fertility tests done. You need to look at the results yourself and understand them. You may have a thyroid problem, or PCOS that keeps you from ovulating, or you may not have an ovulation problem at all. Without test results there's no way of knowing anything, and therefore no way of knowing what treatments to try, natural or otherwise.

BTW - How long have you been TTC, and what tests have been run (and what are the results)?

I second what jeniferm said! Clomid can actually be bad for TTC if it is not what is needed. As for being "natural", well, that depends on what your definition is. It's not an herb, but it does make your body do what it would do if it were functioning *normally*, however, it does so by boosting your body's function, so there are risks (you are "overworking" your ovaries). Definitely read up. TCYF is a good place to start. You could also google clomid and learn more about how it works so that you are well informed with questions when you go in to talk to your Ob. Good luck

I used to work in infertility and Clomid was the drug of choice. Most people actually took 1 baby aspirin a day to help ovulate, also. This is due to many people with infertility having a tendency to have ovarian cysts. Aspirin is kinda the trade secret to helping ovulation when PCO is suspected, or even as the first step to 99% of infertility patients in my office (I was the andrologist/Reproductive Technologist). I would ask your doc/midwife first, though. There are some disorders people may have where aspirin may not be indicated. Good luck!

CAREFUL. baby aspirin does not have anything to do with helping ovulate. baby aspirin, and BABY aspirin only, and only ONE (aspirin is teratogenic = birth defect causing) makes blood flow better (hence you take it for heart attack, or injury; sends more blood to affected site), so *can* make blood flow better to the ueterus which *can* make the uterus more lush for implantation. Some studies have shown that implantation rates increase when a baby aspirin is taken while ttc. I took it from O until one week after bfp with both pregnancies. check with your doctor first of course...

It really depends on what's causing you not to ovulate. And even then, different things work for different women. Clomid did not work for me, but it has for a lot of other women. Acupuncture didn't work for me, but it has helped many women, including women who failed to conceive with IVF. Homeopathy helped a couple of women that I know of, but it hasn't helped me. I had to use a fancy injectible, Repronex, along with an IUI to get around dh's ejaculation problem (he can't basically, at least not from sex).
to you and best wishes.

I've tried tons of "natural" things to help me concieve, though none have done the trick for me, I'll share.
Take a 100 B complex and/or 100 mg of B6 daily
Take an Omega 3 suppliment- fish oil
Take Vitex- its an herb thats supposed to work like clomid- but it takes a few months to be effective- take it 3x/day
I've also drunk pre-conception and pregnancy teas for red raspberry leaf, and alfalfa they have them at www.herblore.com and www.snowboardmommy.com

I've also heard of taking Soy Isoflavins to increse your estrogen in the first part of your cycle. Though I haven't tried this one- yet.

Good luck
Laura
