Preschool crafts

When I first met my daughter's preschool teacher we got to talking about my interest in art and she invited me to come up with little art projects and come in as an assistant to do a project with the kids. Yay! So this week I am suggesting an idea for making little animal masks with tongue depressers for holding up to the face. DD and I spent all day Sunday perfecting the project, so right now we have a kitchen table menagerie !! I've got a bucket-full of ideas, but I wanted to ask you guys if you had any fun little project ideas for a group of preschoolers (four yo's)...Like, what do you all do for fun craft projects at home? Thanks!

It's too early for me to think but I will keep checking back and see if I can recall anything. My brain just needs a little push.

Here are some I've done with a mother and toddle group (most of the children were 2-3 so there was a fair ammount of preperation)

Draw a bus on a piece of paper/card for each child. Cut faces from magazines and stick in the windows, sing the wheels on the bus.

Draw a sheep, let the children fill in the coat with cotton wool or curls of paper. Sing baa baa black sheep.

Cut a circle of black paper and 8 strips of black paper. Fold the stips into concertinas and
glue onto your circle to make spider webs. Glue yarn onto a paper plate for a web.

I htink the mums enjoyed comming out wiht a finished item but the children were happy just to get messy. They had just as much fun with plain paper and paint glue and stuff to stick on.

not really an art idea, but our prek class LOVED shaving cream. Plop it right on the table and they can "draw" in it, add a little dry tempera for color.

Mix it half/half with Elmers white glue it becomes a puffy paint that will harden.....use for snow/snowmen....great book with this, let me look that up....use natural objects to decorate, they'll stick in it, my aunt still has hers my ds made
(pinecones, twigs,buttons, raisins)
