1 mil or 2 mil?

I am wondering if anyone here has experience with both 1 mil and 2 mil PUL??? If so...what are the pros and cons of each? Do they both work equally as well at waterproofing? Or is one better than the other?

I have only used 2 mil...and many have said that the 2 mil is more difficult to work with, noisier, and more stiff.

My biggest question is about the waterproofing? ANyone have any ideas?

I have both 1 and 2 ml, and definitely prefer the 1 mil. It sews up easier, isn't as stiff and "crinkly", and is just as waterproof as the 2 mil stuff. Plus it's a little cheaper than the 2 mil.

I believe Fuzzi Bunz are made of 1mil, aren't they? And they hold in wetness just fine.

That's good to know. I wanted to try out PUL and had no idea which to get. I think I'll also get the 1mil.

One of the coop moms did an experiment with 1 mil and 2 mil and she found that they both held in wetness equally (over a long period). I think it's just a matter of preference. I use both, because I bought what was available from coops at the time. I prefer the feel of 1 mil, but I actually prefer sewing 2 mil. My sewing machine seems to cooperate with it better.

For me, 1 mil for diapers, 2 mil for wetbags. Probably doesn't make any diff, though.

I usually use 1 mil, unless I'm in need of a specific color, in which case I'll take whichever thickness anyone has! If I'm sending fabric in to get laminated, I only want 1mil on it, the 2mil is just too thick/stiff!
