need a gift for a one year old with a 3 year old big brother...

The thing is, this one year old has EVERYTHING because he grows into stuff just as his big brother is growing out of it. Toys AND clothes both. Last year he was an infant so we got him diapers, but this year I thought he'd appreciate something geared toward him. I know that people in my family aren't getting him too much, and just kind of assuming he is too little to care. But I'd really like to get him something special. My bro and sil have very little space in their apt. so it can't be a big toy or anything. Any suggestions for something HE would like?

What was a big hit for my three when they
turned one, was animal bath towels( a dog
a duck, & a ladybug). A friend of mine made
them, but I've also seen them in the stores.
She sewed a washcloth to the corner of the
towel, added ears and eyes. I don't sew, but
it seems like it would be easy enough to make.
We still use them after every bath. What also
comes to mind are those character plastic dish
sets that come with the plate, bowl, spoon, fork,
& cup. You can never have too many of those. HTH!

Something that my 17 month old loved at 12 months was the Baby Einstien CD's, I would turn one on when ever I had to do the dishes and/or fold laundry and she would just be in the room with me and dance her little heart out. She got a couple for her 1st b-day... they are still great... not grating at all for parents to listen to.

I think that oneplusthree has some great ideas! You can even find bowls and spoons and stuff at dollar stores and the kids love the variety they can get that way. The towel idea is a really good one too!

I thnk another good gift idea would be something that he and his brother can play with together. What about a music set, like a plastic drum and maracas? Or something like that? they can do little "parades" for mommy and daddy, and the big brother could be the "leader" I bet they would both love that.

What I've been doing lately for kids this age is asking the parents for an old receiving blanket of the child and making a knotty doll out of it. Because it's soft and cuddly, I find babies this age really take to them. Also, since it's one of their own old blankies, it's really personalized.

I love the bath towel idea too. I've made a couple, but I can't get creative enough to make little ducks or lady bugs out of them.
