I want an envelope style dipe pattern... and other q's.

I love how they look... and would love to try and make some. does anyone know of a pattern that I could use?? It also looks like I'd need a serger for those.
Would a serger be something nice to have if I end up not liking those diapers?
I know there are a ton of dipes that you can make with a serger.... And a snap press, I think I'd like one of those. I think I have my x-mas list made up.

I want another baby after this one... so I'm sure I'd make enough dipes to make it worthwhile, right??

I don't know about envelope diapers or sergers, but I think if you're having another baby, you can certainly justify the cost of some of those things in your diaper making. I ended up buying a snap press because we're hoping to have 2 more kids. That's a lot more diapers I'll be making. Plus, I shouldn't have any trouble getting rid of the snap press if/when I decide I'm done with it.

I really want a serger, too, but that is going to have to wait until next year. Hopefully tax return time!

I know that I'm often in the minority on this but make sure you like diapers that snap before you shell out for a snap press. We hate snaps over here. I hear that it's hard to get the snaps on straight with a snap press too (there was a thread on here recently about that...)

Diaper making is so addictive. I just want to keep sewing and sewing, I'm going to have too many diapers soon!

I've been thinking about a serger too but I think I'm just going to stick to my sewing machine. I'm so happy with my sewing machine diapers that I think I should save my money and spend it all on fabric instead. Plus, I've never used a serger so I have this feeling that it might be better not to know what I'm missing if you know what I mean :LOL

Of course if you want help justifying the purchase, I can help you out!

darlingdiapers.com has a pocket diaper pattern. I really like the pattern, too.
The snap press is so easy to use. If you mark for snaps before you sew, it won't be an issue.

I second the Darling Diapers pattern. I have the fitted pocket, and I use fleece as the outside so it is an AIO pocket. I basically learned how to sew using that pattern, it is that good. And the diapers are great. They are turned and topstitched. I have heard that many babies have sensitivities to serged diapers rubbing them. I like the look of T&T more, the serged are too raw looking for me!

I can use my sewing machine to mock serge and I have "serged" mama pads and wipes that have lasted through many washes.

I did not invest in a snap press because it is quite expensive and I heard it is a PITA to put the snaps in. I am very satisfied with side aplix on my pockets.

Have fun!!!

I my serger, but not for diapers. I prefer T&T unless I'm doing something thick.

I like tm serger HATE my snap press too ... It wasnt cheap either... I use it but my diapers always have crooked snaps on them..

Id also say the Darling diapers pattern is great (and has a certain look of a serged diaper, encased elastic)or the VB AIO pattern can be made into a pocket diaper. No need for a serger for either..
