I am really psyched now! I went for my first actual prenatal visit with the homebirth mw- last time was just a get-to-know-you visit. It was soooooooo cool to just sit in her living room, chat, have her take my bp, measure my belly, etc just as casual as can be while dh and ds played with toys on the floor. What a huge difference from the crowded birth center office and being rushed through appointments and being told I *have* to do this and that because it's policy! Now I am just kicking myself for not getting this together before 31 weeks! I had been working on it, but didn't figure it all out till now- I wish I could have benefitted from this type of care for the entire pregnancy.
And---- FINALLY--- I found out the baby's position- transverse! Although I am pretty sure it had just moved that day, b/c I did used to feel something hard down low, and now it's empty down there, and the squirming is really intense and all over the place now, whereas before it was just sticking out elbows or knees really hard near my belly button. I don't feel or look like the cartoon character that swallowed a cucumber though :LOL Such a difference from the cnm's I was seeing- and I do feel bad about being 'disloyal' to them- but they would never feel for position, or even take a guess! I didn't know if they just weren't experienced enough to do it, or didn't want to get my hopes up early that the head was down, or what! It was really perplexing to me!! So anyway, my new mw just felt around and ID's all the body parts easy as can be- I'm really glad to finally have some idea where this baby is!!
So now we have to get our list of hb supplies ready- the home visit supply check will be at 35 weeks since my last birth was at 36 weeks. Considering that I am 31.5 weeks now, and we'll be on vacation a full week starting tomorrow, that means I don't have much time!!! Yikes!! But having a deadline will help.
