OK, I know lots of women suffer from edema during pregnancy, and DH and I have been vigilant to make sure I'm not showing any symptoms of preeclampsia, but this swelling is driving me crazy nonetheless!

It started about six weeks ago with my feet and quickly worked its way up through my ankles. Now, I'm swollen from my toes to up past my knees, which are no longer visible through the puffiness. Gardening clogs are the only shoes I can fit my feet into. I've tried taking magnesium, putting my feet/legs up whenever I can (a neat trick at work, where I'm writing at my computer all day), elevating them while sleeping, etc. Nothing makes a bit of difference. I've been walking to and from the train station at home and to and from the train station to work every day, so I am getting some exercise, but again, the swelling just seems to get worse and worse. flexing my feet and moving my ankles make them feel like they're going to explode, and my feet feel hot all the time--even when bare.

I realize that this is probably perfectly normal for many people, but none of my recently pregnant friends had it, so I'm feeling a bit freakish. Anyone here had or having experience with this? If so, any advice?

If you've gotten this far, thanks for bearing with my rant. I'm not normally such a whiner, but this, combined with not having a decent night's sleep for a week is getting me down.
