Off-the-books jobs?

Hi mama's
I currently work pt in a daycare in a gym, but need to work more (financial issues).I'm trying to find an "Off-the-books" job because I'm on Section8 and such and if you make more money they take more from you (which in that case you might as well just stay home) :
I know there's babysitting and cleaning houses, but I was wondering if there was anything else I could do? Anyone working off-the-books? These are the days I wish I was creative (like that I could sew or something)....but sadly I don't. How about computer (online) jobs that I could work from home? --I'm always worried there scams though.
For babysitting or cleaning how could I find work....the newspaper hasn't had anything. And for babysitting- people only want FT nannies that cook and clean, etc..Any ideas?

thanx

I think you can find part time babysitting. We typically only need babysitters a few times a month, not FT. A lot of families with one mostly SAH parent who sometimes does projects, etc. outside of the house need them. I would just advertise as a babysitter rather than a nanny-- usually babysitter implies PT.

Where I live there is a lot of work for "companions" for elderly people. Someone to come by and spend a few hours, maybe fix lunch, make sure the person takes their meds on time, etc. Having a baby/toddler to bring along is sometimes considered a bonus because the senior enjoys it. People who need this kind of service usually have such poor vision, hearing, short-term memory, etc., that they can no longer enjoy reading, or TV, or conversation, and as a result they get terribly bored. But everyone can enjoy a baby. And since they don't actually NEED your constant attention the way someone else's child would--merely your presence--it allows you to mainly focus on your child and still get paid. I think the only thing that would be a deal-breaker for me would be changing an adult's diapers, but my DH's grandmother has a home "companion" and she is not incontinent (yet) just very forgetful and not able to keep up with her meals and meds.

Try craigslist, there's a section for childcare.
Good luck!

Thanx for the ideas
I replied to an ad on craiglist for what looks like pt babysitting for a 5yr old autistic boy. There wasn't much but that one ad, but I'll keep checking and maybe post my own.
