sudden potty accidents in 6 yr old dog? (some TMI)

I have never heard of anything like this. Four days in a row now, Boaz has had a #2 accident in the house. The unusual part is that it's always only a tiny little amount, maybe 20% of how much he normally "goes". The first couple of times I honestly thought that it was sticking to his fur when he was going outside and then falling off in the house.

Yesterday when it happened (the other times we weren't home or asleep) he started running around like crazy afterwards - we let him outside and he finished going. The other times we just happen upon the mess. We've never actually seen the accident take place.

He's never had potty issues before - came to me already housebroken as a puppy. Dh wonders about some kind of loss of bowel control - but would that be possible with just such a tiny amount? Is it possible that this is a behavior issue? All times except once happened in the dining room. He likes the dining room (that window is one of his "command posts" LOL) and we haven't made any other major changes recently. Also, his poop doesn't look abnormal.

We will be calling the vet of course, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I'm terribly worried about him.

I definitely think the vet visit is needed. It could be a physical problem if he has always been potty trained before. Have you guys moved or had a big change recently? That could cause some problems too I think. How about diet changes? Could he have gotten into anything different than usual? Keep us posted on how he does and what the vet says. Good luck!
