Hi evereyone! Im new here. My name is Brandis and I have 3 boys... Devan (4), Teagan (2), and Ashtan (7 months) I just started making and using cloth diapers with Ashtan, his tush was not happy with disposables. I have been making them since March. Im no pro and I love getting new ideas. Right now I am working with patterns I have made myself, I promised hubby that I wouldnt spend too much when I switched to cloth. But I find myself checking out the fabric aisle everytime I visit WalMart! LOL

Welcome! I've found the same thing since I started making my own cloth. I think buying ready made ones would've been cheaper! I just can't stay away from those fabric stores. Can't wait to see pics of some you've made.

Welcome to the world of making your own cloth diapers! It's so much fun isn't it! You're in good company looking at sales every day and playing with your own pattern.

I'm glad you've joined the forum

Welcome! This place is the best for hanging out with the experts. I know this because I am soooo not an expert and these wonderful women have helped me so much.

The good thing about making your own diapers is that you can custom fit it to you child, so in the long run you might not save much money, but you have diapers that fit perfectly in fabrics you love.

I however have saved tons of money since I am in love with fleece pockets and they are cheap to make but cost so much to buy. (I have not saved money if I had just used PFs, but who wants to use them all of the time...) However, I never invested in a serger or snap press, so my start-up costs were cheap. I bought Aplix on-line and the rest of my stuff at Walmart or Joann's.

I did buy a pattern, but that saved me money in the long run since my first diaper actually worked out, so I did not waste time/money playing around. But I am not an expert seamstress, and I needed all of the help I could get. I am now an addict and like you I can't pass fabric without checking it out.
