Embroidering on PUL

I want to embellish light colored PUL for a pocket that will have darker colored fleece inside. The problem is that when I add a second layer of PUL for waterproofing you can clearly see the shape of the second layer through the first. What should I do???

Would you consider switching to a lighter fleece? You could use two full layers of PUL too, but that seems stiff and bulky.

I, personally, detest the way that a darker lining shows through the PUL on a light color pocket. I don't want to see the insert showing through either. I threw away the two that I made, even though otherwise they were fine. It sounds like you are having a similar issue.

Good luck!

What about using a darker color of PUL for the patch? Maybe trying to match the fleece instead of the PUL outer?

I've found that you dont' need 2 layers of PUL to be waterproof when embroidering. I've always just embroidered directly on my PUL layer, and have never had leakage problems.

Really? Do you then just wash and dry on hot, so as to seal the sewing holes?

I do have 2 emb's that I haven't done the iron on thing to yet, and one is for Sofia, so i will skip the second layer on this one (and I can always do the iron on thing on it later) and I'll see if it works for me. I'll let you know
