Does anyone read Mother Jones?

Just wondering if anyone else is a fan of Mother Jones magazine.

All the time. It is the one the true greats. It often reports issues waaayyyy before the mainstrean press - kinda like Mothering.

Darn, I can't do it--just can't have a one word post. LOL. I subscribed to Mother Jones when one of the teens in my neighborhood was selling magazines as a fundraiser. I didn't want to renew Cooking Light again, so I looked for a new magazine to see if there was one I wanted. I checked to see if Mothering was offered, thinking maybe I could renew this way. The fundraising form didn't include Mothering, but did have Mother Jones and a little description, so I subscribed based on that. I like the articles, so I renewed when my subscription ran out.

After reading the current issue, I'll never buy roses again.

(We'll just grow them ourselves.)

The article talks about the exploitation of women who work in rose greenhouses in Honduras--and, of course, the majority of their roses are shipped to the U.S. The women are exposed to pesticides and preservatives that are sprayed on the roses, and they are having miscarriages and babies with birth defects at really high rates. Scary.

We subscribe, and then when I'm done with the issue, I mail it to my dad. He's a dyed in the wool republican, but loves the magazine and agrees with almost everything they write about!:
