How did your mama give birth to you?

I was a CS. Little brother, on the other hand, was VBAC using a squat bar. {Mind you, they *did* have the OR set up down the hall "just in case".}

I voted vaginally, head down, w/pain killing drugs. Make that consciousness killing. She was in twilight sleep.

My mom read Mothering back in the magazine's early days. I was vaginal, head down, with no pain meds.

I was born naturally in the hospital. My mom was a "boob nazi" back when that was unheard of...she was also a LLL leader.

vaginally, head down, no meds. I think. She may have had nubain or similar, I can't remember for sure, but right now I think she went without.

Drug free vaginally but I don't know if the drug free part was planned. She had a 3 hour labor and I was born five minutes after they got to the hospital. Mom said she thought first babies took longer so they stayed until the ball game was over :LOL

Drug free, head down, vaginally, and at HOME! My mom had both her babies at home in 1977 and 1981 (me). I am so very thankful that she birthed this way and I have her FULL support and encouragement to do everything naturally with my babies.

Oh, and she is a tiny woman at 4ft 11in, 80ish lbs before having kids and both my brother and I were in the 8 1/2 lb range....I must give credit where credit is due.

My mom was given twilight sleep with me, but she did manage to breastfeed in the rural south in the early 70's (yeah Mama!!! ) and she refused the twilight sleep the 2nd time around. Told the doc there as no way she wanted that stuff (it took so long to wear off and until it did she didn't even realize she'd had a baby), though they did give her a pain shot (that she didn't ask for) b/c it was ordered on her chart as my sister was crowning. They were supposed to have given it *much* earlier, but didn't believe my mom when she told them she was progressing.

Mom had both me and my little bro vaginally, head down with no pain meds. She has always told me it was a piece of cake and that all she needed to do was relax her body. My mom rocks.

My mum had all five of us drug-free in hospitals, and nursed us for a year minimum. I remember with child #4 (whose birth I was old enough to attend; I am #2) the nurses kept trying to tell her that she couldn't breastfeed. Elaine just didn't latch or suck well, was the problem. My mum gave them absolute hell about it, and complained about them to the hospital management. She nursed Elaine for a year and then decided she'd had *enough* of two handed nursing; my sister never learned to latch solidly.

I voted "vaginally, head down, with pain killing drugs" even though I have no clue if I was vertex or breech and she was completely unconscious.

vaginally, head down, no pain killing drugs - at home!

Vaginal head down with "pain killing" drugs. But the drugs took none of the pain away, just left her unable to walk. After I was born she said there has got to be a better way. She had my 5 brothers naturally.

My Mom had all four of us naturally, without drugs and was even planning to be her friend's practicum patient (she was becoming a midwife) but her friend had a miscarriage the day she went into labour. She had hospital births, but is really impressed that I'm considering a home waterbirth done the road and has often said if she knew then what she knows now, that would've been her plan aswell. My Mama is one cool cat.

I was vaginal, head down. An induction, with all the bells and whistles. My older sister was a natural Lamaze (70's Lamaze) birth, mom said it was very relaxing, not painful. But she was a stillborn. And my younger brother was an emergency csection. Mom says she's a good one to talk to, because she's had pretty much every experience.

My mom's OB gave her an epidural w/o her her wanting it when I was crowning and then he pulled me out with forceps (guess he was in a hurry). My parents did not pay for the epi. I told my mom she should have sued. My mom had already had a birth w/o pain meds and she was in labor 24hrs (at the age 17 too). She absolutly wanted to have me natural.
