How far along are you now? 36w 5d

Any signs of labour getting close?

No. Although last night I had my first experience with Braxton Hicks. Never had any with my first pregnancy. However they had me up all night. Gave me a bit of a scare though. I am certain I will go over due but this seemed to be a reminder to get things done!

any appointments coming up soon?

Today at 3pm. 37 week check up. The Dr. wants to do the strep B test. I kept forgetting to use a garlic suppository at night as it is suppose to help you get a negative strep B test...I put some in last night..POOR DR! :LOL

Are you ready for baby?

Not in the slightest. Which is why last nights BH lit a little fire...I keep thinking I have six weeks to get things ready...reality is I might not. So today I feel a little frantic about finding the time to get it all done.

Anything you want to add?

I am exhausted!! Between the rib pain, BH, and DS being up all night (two nights in a row) and then having to be up for work every morning....it's wearing on me and my patience. Thankfully only 8 more working days...I could use the luxury of being able to sleep in right about now. I might have decided to stay at work TOO long this time...

How far along are you now? 39 weeks 5 days, 2 to go till EDD. My other 3 arrived on my due date so I'm hoping it'll be this week. However, my midwife and I disagreed on my EDD in the beginning. She thought the 6th and I the 9th. I went with her number because I wanted to make it as short as possible. So now I think the baby will come sometime over the (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend.

Any signs of labour getting close? Been contracting like crazy for the last three weeks if that means anything. I know it doesn't.

any appointments coming up soon? My midwife is coming to the house on Thursday. I've never made it to a 40 week appointment before but looks like I will this time. I don't like it!

Are you ready for baby? As ready as I'll ever be! More ready to never be pregnant again than anything else!

For those of you have your babies...how's it going? N/A

Anything you want to add? Just not enjoying these last days of pregnancy and I feel like I am supposed to because it is our for sure last baby (#4). But I am sick of the discomfort and not being able to do anything very physical. In other words I have to ask other people to do so much for me and it seems my prioritys don't line up with DH's. He doesn't seem to care that the house be perfectly clean for the homebirth and thats all I want right now! yes, I'm whining.

Oh...I so get what you are saying...hubby said "wait until my mother comes to clean out laundry room" He doesn't get that midwives will be using it...I want it somewhat tidy for them.

and I am finally ready to stop having babies...my body is just worn out!

a friend pointed out that i had a feeling i would go past 37 weeks, i kept mentioning it. but i guess i didnt prepare myself for it as well as i should have.

allgirls, I am so glad someone understands! I am feeling so frustrated right now!

It actually just occured to me that maybe I am having that energy burst before labour that is so often talked about. I hired a cleaning lady to do 2 hours of cleaning this morning (in progress) and meanwhile I'm washing all my bedding (can't co-sleep with a new born in dingy bedding, right?), all the bathroom towels, made my DH clean up all his tools and such from around the house, etc, etc. Maybe I do have a sign of labour getting close! Only problem is I will go into labour, have a baby, and my dh won't be able to stand me anymore!

Czen

PS Does a cleaning energy burst count when you hire someone to help you accomplish it?

For those of you have your babies...how's it going?

It's going very well. I'm so in love with my little baby girl Piper. She is sooo sweet . She is super peaceful, content and calm. And she is already smiling for us. My milk has come in. Piper is not the avid nurser that my DS was...yet anyhow. She's been nursing on average every 2 or 3 hours. She actually slept for 6 hours straight last night. I woke up with more afterpain stuff and got up to take a bath, she stirred a bit when I came back to bed but didn't want to nurse. It was really cute though. Early this morning DS woke up. He was sleeping on the other side of me, my back facing him. So he didn't see Piper in front of me and he said, "Where's the baby mom?" I think its so cute that he thinks of her first thing when he wakes up. DS has been nursing a little bit, I have been limiting it though. He nursed for about 5 minutes this morning and I told him he can have some at bed time.

The pediatrician is coming out today to do the newborn exam. Supposed to be done within 24 hours for homebirth we didn't call her until yesterday Oh well. Better late than never.

Jamie is still home and will be until Sunday. It's definitely an adjustment going from one to two. Piper is easy though, the challenge is keeping our almost 3 yr old busy and happy.

Oh, and the afterpains are getting a bit better each day so that's good. I think probably they will be gone by tomorrow. And I'm not all that sore "down there". Since I didn't tear!! So happy about that. Feeling achy in the pelvis etc but not too bad. Tonight DH is going to give me a nice back rub....I'm so looking forward to laying down on my stomach for the massage . I am not missing being pregnant at all!

We are all in love with our little Piper. I'm so glad we kept the sex a surprise. We may not have any more babies, who knows for sure. But if not we now have a son and a daughter. And I think it's pretty cool our daughter will have a big brother to look out for her .

Okay, done for now. :LOL I can't wait to read all your birth stories in the coming days and weeks.

How far along are you now? 37 W, 4 days.

Any signs of labour getting close? Not yet. But I've been having some really wonderful dreams! I dreamt a couple nights ago that that a group of women were all in a circle and everyone's baby was crowning at the same moment. Every one had there hands on the crowing head and was saying, very gently, "Oh, how cool this is, do you feel that, wow...this is so neat..."

Then I dreamt that I was at a summer camp I used to attend as a teen, and I had bloody show and menstrual cramps. I told another camper, "Well, this is it, I think this baby's coming down the pike." I called my midwife and she was 150 miles away and surrounded by floodwaters (?!) (too much hurricane news coverage??). But in the dream she gave me a hug, and said, "Don't worry, I wouldn't miss it for the world."

Good dreams, good energy.

any appointments coming up soon? Midwife comes tomorrow!

Are you ready for baby? Absolutely! My nephew asked me what I was going to be for Halloween, and I said, "lighter..." Of course we still have to get the clothes, and car seat down from the attic, but you know, that'll happen one of these days...

For those of you have your babies...how's it going? N/A

Anything you want to add?

For those of you feeling like your house is a wreck, I understand. We were still building our house when our DD was born. We did have a bedroom and a bathroom that was functional, though! Now, I feel like it doesn't matter how clean my house is when this baby comes. The baby won't care! And I may save up cleaning for a labor project...

I know I am a late add but these questions look fun, and I'm bored.

How far along are you now? 41 weeks 1 day

Any signs of labour getting close?
: for the past, um, five weeks. lost my mucus plug four weeks ago.

any appointments coming up soon?

today in an hour or so. I've pretty much stopped looking forward to appointments because even the @#$% nurses are asking "when are you going to have the baby?"

Are you ready for baby?
So, so, so very ready.

Anything you want to add?
Someone on the September board (danaan, who had her baby at 41 weeks 4 days, I think) was talking about a safe place for mamas who are around their EDD's or over, away from people who want to ask dumb questions, with great child care and lots of massages. A resort or retreat or something. How great would that be? I am really longing for it this week, and I may just go splurge and get a great pedicure or something if this kid doesn't show up in the next day or so.

How far along are you now? 38w 2 d

Any signs of labour getting close? Not really. I am pretty darn tired most of the time although I was able to get to yoga AND go for a walk yesterday. I am having some slight "twinges" but not sure what to think of those.

any appointments coming up soon? massage today; m/w appt on wednesday; Acupuncture on thursday (all covered by insurance - I am totally spoiled!). Oh, and a bunch of "meet and greet" appointments with potential baby doc's.

Are you ready for baby? YES! Both my husband and I are on leave from work now (until January) and are just kinda waiting. We have a bunch of stuff that we are working on around the house but I seem to be really distracted and can't get much done. Am so excited for this baby to get here - mostly excited to find out the sex and see what he/she looks like!

Just wanted to add a bit to my "update" since i had an appointment today.

i saw the nurse-dude instead of the OB, which is a VERY good thing, because he's less obnoxious Alright, so i've never felt the need to punch him! haha! Anyway, baby still hasn't dropped, i'm measuring 39 1/2 weeks (i'm only 37), 50% effaced and a fingertip dilated. This was the first time i've been "checked" since baby hasn't dropped yet, so they didn't bother before (all the better). The nurse-dude told me "you know, you don't HAVE to wait for your due date..." i think he was trying to be funny, but he seems really concerned about the baby being "too big" which really irritates me. When he measured my uterus, he said to noone in particular (my husband and a nurse were in the room) "i'm surprised she isn't complaining; she's really running out of room in there" is that supposed to scare me? I have another ultrasound scheduled for next week; he wants to see "how big" the baby is--like that's going to have anything to do with how i birth her! Haha, and they haven't even asked me about pain medication, etc; i have a feeling they'll be VERY surprised when i say i don't want any, lol.

How far along are you now? 37 weeks 2 days

Any signs of labour getting close? Yes but they are all just teasers i think. Bloody show, lost the mucous plug, waves getting pretty intense. Actually timed 10 mins apart for over 7 hours on sunday. Constantly ache in my back as of yesterday and my bowels are loose lol. Baby is 0 station and engaged, but im only 50% and a fingertip dilated. I have to keep reminding myself that i had 'latent' labor for weeks with dd.

any appointments coming up soon? Had my chiro adjustment an hour ago and feel 100 times better, my 37 week appt with midwives is tomorrow.

Are you ready for baby? As ready as one can ever be

Anything you want to add? Cant wait to meet this little girl and hold her

How far along are you now? 38 weeks 2 days

Any signs of labor getting close? I refuse to get excited about anything at this point! Ever since the pre-term labor it's felt like the baby is "late" even though he's not. I've had lots of contractions and at this point am just trying to relax and not worry about it.

Any appointments coming up soon? I have an appointment this Thursday. The week before last I'd dilated 2 cm in 4 days, and the next week I hadn't changed at all. Who knows what it will be this time?

Are you ready for baby? Definately yes, but I have a horrible cold right now. I can't imagine going through labor while hacking my head off, so I'll be fine holding out a bit longer!

How far along are you now? 37 weeks!

Any signs of labour getting close? I've been contracting since August, but they've changed and are a bit crampier and more distracting. I'm torn between thinking it will be pretty soon (my daughter was born at 38 weeks exactly) and thinking this baby will never come out. I'm READY to stop being pregnant.

any appointments coming up soon? I had a prenatal yesterday with my backup midwives and everything looked good. I will see my homebirth midwife on Friday.

Are you ready for baby? Well, we have a lot of stuff, if that's what you mean. It's my second baby, and it's so hard for me to imagine having a child other than my first. I'm ready to see him. I'm ready to have him on the outside. I'm nervous and excited and vaguely appalled at trying to figure out how to care for two children.
