For those of you that took clomid?

On what CD's did you take it? My MD told me to take it CD5-CD9 but I have been reading that most doctors say CD 3-7. I am on CD 4 and thinking that I will just go ahead and take it tonight....I am not sure what to do. Any advice?

I tried both and still didn't O on it, but have heard starting earlier is better if you have PCOS. Best wishes!

I took it days 5-9, and it worked on the first try.

For me, it made my period stop the next day. Usually my AF lasts 7 days. So, my concern with taking it starting on day 3 would be that it would prematurely mess up AF. . . But obviously many people take it days 3-7 and have success.

With clomid you usually ovulate 5-9 days after the last pill. So, if you take it days 3-7, you may O earlier than average, and if you take it days 5-9, you should expect to O a little later than average.

HTH!

I have PCOS, and have taken clomid, and from what i understand, 5-9 is the standard "old" protocol......the newer protocol is 3-7, and, for some of us PCOS'ers especially, days 1-5 produce the best results.....honeslty, 3-7 is proven to produce better results than 5-9, so I would wonder why your doc isn't up on the newest research......??..

I took it on CD 5-9. My cycles have been around 28 days w/O at CD14. The cycle I took clomid, I actually O'd on CD16 (confirmed by U/S), so clomid may have been responsible for Oing 2 days later than usual. We did IUI and I got pg that cycle (1st time clomid and 1st time IUI) and we have a 5 yo DD now!

Good luck to you!

I don't think it's simply a matter of what is newer info, but what works best for some people. I have taken it CD 3-7 and had the most painful O ever. I actually took it on those days because my cycles tend to be a little longer. Chatted with my OB about it after that cycle and he said that they have had better luck with those that take it CD 5-9 so I decided to give that a try....here I am! And I am not a huge fan of OB's or dr's at all for that matter, but I have never met a better read OB who can quote medical research like it's nothing (and not just the stuff that agreess with what his colleagues are saying). This is the same man who encouraged me to continue nursing after my first m/c. Good luck!

I went ahead and took it days 4-8. I am 10 DPO so I don't know if it worked yet or not.
I think the main reason why my doctor isn't up on the latest research is because she is my family doctor and not an ob/gyn so she doesn't prescribe these types of meds everyday LOL But she is the one that prescribed it last time and I have a 2 year old so that time worked

Took mine (smallest dosage) days 5-9 too.

All 3 cycles failed & I was DEVESTATED...then SURPRISE...the following month it worked! I think Clomid regulated my cycles & in some way maybe stayed in my system! GL!
