hi everyone

i was wondering where i can find books about pregnancy, birth and childrearing from the 1950's or even farther back.

i want to give them to someone for a joke baby shower gift!

does anyone know of any titles?

Try Powells or used books @ Amazon. I don't know about titles, so I dont know how you'd search for 'em. I get to go to Powells, and find old stuff all the time.

I don't know what authors to recommend searching on. Was Dr. Spock in business then??

cheers!

Nicholson J. Eastman's Expectant Motherhood

There's a number of used copies at amazon.com ranging from $1.19 up to $15 This book was first published in 1941 I think.

Hey- I have that one! Found it at St. Vincent de Paul. It's a real hoot. Found a parenting book from the 70's at the same time that has great projects for kids like making metal polish out of cigarette ashes to help out around the house.

If you have the time, a thrift store could yield some pretty interesting stuff.
