Hi, I'm asking for a friend who doesn't have much internet access, only occassionalllly at her in laws. She had this procedure done of Monday and the person who did it said the scan afterwards said her ovaries are clear. She hasn't heard from her gyn yet. She was updating her chart on ff and she read that someone else had this done and their gyn told them they couldn't ttc the first cycle. Anyone else done this? What were you told about ttc?

I haven't done it yet, but I was told that I could TTC the same month that the HSG was done...in fact, she really might WANT to TTC this month - for some unknown reason, fertility jumps up in the month or two following a HSG. At least that's what I was told...so a lot of people hold off on having the HSG until they want to TTC again for that reason.

Hope this helps.

I was told I could TTC right away after the HSG and that it would actually be a good idea. It's my understanding that HSG (unpleasant though it is -- ugh -- I passed out after mine) can clear out minor blockages/debris in the fallopian tubes. That's why fertility can improve after one.

Ok, thanks ladies. She has been ttc since Dec of 02. I will let her know. Thanks.

It depends on when they did it in her cycle. Most docs (hopefuly all of them..but you never know) Ask for it to be done in the first 12 days of your cycle, well prior to ovulation. If that is the case, then yes, she can ttc thic cycle. If however, she had it done later in her cycle, or possibly during her fertile/ovulation time, she may want to wait. I have only met a couple people who had them done late in their cycle.

Good luck to her.

I think she said yesterday was cd 9 and that she had about 6 more days until ovulation.

Yep- totally fine then! She may have thought the no sex for 48 hours thing meant no TTC...that is just to lower the risk of infection.

Ok, thanks. I hope she gets pregnant soon.

We conceived DS same month after an HSG. They told us that the HSG either removed any micro blockages (I didnt have any they could see) or stimulated the uterine follicles allowing the implant.

Ok, can this make you ovulate sooner? My friend called today. She said she has more CM than she ever has before. And she took a few OPK's and the test line is a lot darker than the control line, which is unusual for her. It's day 10 and she usually doesn't ovulate until day 15.
