Well I had my appt today 38w1d. 
The baby is big and the mw is concerned about macrosomia which is when the trunk of the baby is larger than the head. They want me to have another (this would be #4
: ) U/S! The thing is that in determining macrosomia, an u/s is not as reliable as palpation. So they scheduled the u/s for next Thursday, my next appt is on Friday morning.
I'm all freaked out b/c they talked about it's a big baby (they approximate 8.5-9lbs-that's not too big IMO) and the shoulders could get stuck (shoulder dystocia) and then the possibility of c/s. If the baby is too big they will talk about inducing at my next appt so the baby doesn't get too big by the time s/he is ready! What a kink in the road ! Another thing is that if I don't get the u/s then they would do one when I get into the LDR when in labor to see the status of the baby~then I'd either go to a reg hospital room or up to the bc.
So....here's the good news about it all...DH and I are talking about getting a second opinion from a homebirth mw
Is this what it takes for my dh to get thinking about a hb?? I guess so! I'm excited about the possibility of having a hb, I'm more ready for it than he is. Anyhow...we are now waiting for the mw to call us back to see what she says.
If we don't here from the hb mw, the plan in the meantime is to not go to the U/S on Thursday (since it is unreliable and the mw told me so-but she still recommended it
) and if I go into labor before/after then we will just wait until the contractions get real close before heading to the bc/hosp. Then the baby should be ready to come and they won't be able to do an U/S when I get there while in labor.
