Baby head-butting his way out?

Well, today's the official due date and no contractions to speak of. However, it feels like he's repeatedly ramming his head downwards, sending incredible shooting pains through my pelvic floor that make me gasp sometimes.

What in the world is going on down there? Any insight? Neither my mom nor my MIL experienced this so they can't offer too much guidance.

Thanks,
Rose

Well, occasionally I feel shooting pains in my pelvic area too. I never thought of it as the baby trying to get out though :LOL I just walk through the pain until I have a grip on it and then it goes away. I don't have ctx with it...My mw didn't seem to be concerned with it and waved it away as nothing important . But who knows?

I have been having that for over a week. When I asked the midwife she said the baby is really low and experimenting with what way her head fits best etc.

Yep!!! That's happening here, too. Every time he moves I can feel his head grinding into my cervix. A lovely sensation. Ow.

Same here, my due date was yesterday, and since Sept. 30th I've had extreme pelvic pressure that comes and goes, last night it was mainly just when I would take a step with my right foot I would have shooting pain, now this morning it's gone. My midwife also said that it is just the baby moving further & further down, which is good because it means a shorter labor the further down they are (ya!).

Well, good to know it's not a weirdo thing I'm experiencing but I sure wish it meant that this whole delivery thing was on it's way!

Uuuuggggghhhhh we're on day one of being past the due date.

Yep, I've been getting some weird pains down there the past couple of nights. I feel it mostly in front of my pelvic bone. It's a stabbing pain there that literally takes my breath away, it's very painful. I can only assume it's the baby getting settled in. At my last appt the mw said she was so low that she is surprised I can even walk normally! I am finally starting to make progress. DH checked me last night and he said my cervix is getting really soft and mushy now, where before it was hard and really thick. So my fingers are crossed that things are finally starting to happen!
