Please tell me this is good for something

When the baby moves, his head grinds on my cervix. Half the time I feel like someone is scratching it with a nail. When I have contractions, there's lots of pressure on my cervix. It feels achy. The pressure I've been feeling for the last two days makes me think the baby is going to fall out. I want to put a heating pad between my legs or something. And labor is not starting yet.

Tell me this is going to make a difference. Tell me that with all this going on, it's not going to take me twenty hours of labor to dilate two centimeters (as it did last time). Reassure me, please.

Rachel, I keep cruising by the October board to see if there's any news from you! Our family is thinking of yours often and we can't wait to hear the news, or read it, as the case may be.

My first two cms took just about 20 hard hours with my first, too. With the second, the discomfort before labor was much more intense (kind of like what you described, if I remember correctly) and my labor went much faster and was much more effective. Four cms in 12 manageable, challenging, but good hours. And the last six took about another 4 or 5 hours that were so much easier to experience than the first time around. I wish the same for you! Is he still posterior?

Congratulations to all of you Oct. Moms who have already delivered and warm wishes for great labors and births for the rest of you!

Emily!!! We need to catch up. I would love to talk to you.

The baby is posterior at this exact moment, but he's still sort of rolling back and forth. I'm going to go swimming in the morning and see if I can get him to move back-- that worked the other day.

I'm 38 weeks today, which is the exact day that Abigail was born. It's discouraging to have had soooooooooo many more contractions and so many more labor signs but to be going longer in the pregnancy. Grr. At the same time, that makes me feel more prepared to deal with labor when it does start. Now instead of feeling nervous with strong contractions, I'm thinking, "Get stronger, bring it on." That has to be good, right?

I'm right there with you, Rachel. I have to call and make myself a 38 week appointment today and im just sooo suprised. I can't seem to get her to turn, i've done hands-knees, upright positions since I realized she was posterior yesterday. I even slept hands-knees (w/ pillows supporting me) twice last night for 30-45 minutes each time. It feels like labor is trying to start, but shes just not in the right position. And im so sick of the contractions!!!!
