Good board games for preschoolers/Kindies?

Hi!

I just started teaching a Preschool Disabled class after teaching Kindergarten, and I was hoping you guys might have some ideas for good board games for the younger set.

My afternoon class is very high language, so I got them Candy Land, which they love, and Hi Ho Cherry-O. I am also planning to get Memory because my K kiddos loved that one last year. Any other good ones?

My morning class is less mature, but I'd still like to get them to try some turn-taking, etc... any good games for kids on a 2-3 year old level?

As far the slightly older class I use to use color and shape bingo and they enjoyed that. I think 2-3 year olds are really too young to play board games. They are too young for competitive games and are more at that play along side each other rather than with each other stage. I think simple puzzles, peg boards would be good as well as snesory activities such as shaving cream, cotton balls etc.

My kids are 3 and 4. Both enjoy playing Candy Land (although we have to moniter DD (3) to make sure she plays right!). DS (4) enjoys CHutes and Ladders and Memory. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Yeah, I do all that sensory/manipulative stuff... but the kids are actually 3 and 4, but it's a PSD class so they're below level. I am trying to get them to socialize with each other a bit more and I think some games might help them realize that there's other kids in the class! LOL But I don't make it overly competitive.

We just love the board games by the German company Haba. The games can get expensive, but they are always clever, made with high quality wooden pieces and the instructions come in several languages, including English. You can get them through companies like Hearthsong and Magic Cabin Dolls. Good luck!

Ravensburger makes good games. Snail's Pace Race is supposed to be a good game for 2-3 year olds. My son's speech therapist used Race to the Roof with him at age 4.5, because there is apparently lots of things to talk about while playing.
