Anyone regret getting rid of internet/Cable TV - Page 3

No cable here...the prices are INSANE and I cant justify it.
I do wish they had a "pick your channel" cable package, I might splurge to get all the good ones(Discovery, National Geographic, the History channel ect) and Speed Vision for DH!
I go into a "cable zone out" when I watch cable at someones house. I hear nothing but the TV, see nothing, it sucks me in!! There are some CRAZY shows on now!
We have a great anntena(sp?) so our 6 channels come in awesome.

We gave up satellite 4 years ago and haven't missed it.

We did have our TV packed up for a few months when we moved and it was really nice. Though at times having the girls watch a movie in the morning is really nice.

It is nice sometimes at night just to sit and watch a movie.

Wouldn't want to give up internet, way to much info at my finger tips. But I sure would get a lot more done if I did

We gave up tv around the time our son was born... I was determined to not have it be the center of our lives... I now realise when visiting other people's houses, that I am so glad we gave it up & removed the tv from our living room... I can harldy stand it in other people's living rooms now... but a few friends/family mention us not having a tv when they are invited over...

Recently a co-worker of dps worked at the cable co & turned it back on, so we get it free... TV is limited to upstairs in the bedroom when ds is sleeping... & a few little people videos for him, (although I swore I wouldn't, at least we waited until he was almost 2 to let him watch those) & we still don't have tv in the living room... I still wouldn't pay for it though!

As far as internet, it's worth the $10 for dial up & the extra $15 for speedy cordless internet through our utility company, so we pay $25 including the router rental... & I find it worth it, although I also find that the internet takes some balancing, as to not take over life!!

We have never had cable, and we actually get zero reception right now so we only use our tv for videos.

BUT we kept our internet. Homeschooling with a 11yo, it seemed worth it, and our dsl is only costing us less than $5 more a month than dialup would. With four kids it is hard to go to the library or similar to use computers so having internet is relatively important for us.

We almost cancelled the service, though, but instead called the company and asked about lower rates since our contract had long since expired.

we have free TV over here - 5 channels to be exact. and that's way more than enough. one channel (ABC kids) has children's programs for a few hours with NO commercials at all. and that's what is watched in this house. that and DVD's.
we have never had cable or pay TV in our house. if free TV ceases to exist at a stage, we would not get pay TV. just continue to watch DVD's or substitute the time spent watching TV for other activities (like board games).

as for the internet -- i don't think we would be able to live without. dh needs it for work sometimes and it's a great source of information (and running to the library for each and every thing we need to look up is definately not feasible).
