Diva Cup sizing difference

Has anyone ever not used the recommended size for the Diva Cup?
I bought the size 2 since I am over 30 and have a baby, but I have the worst time getting it in and out. It is always a struggle and I end up giving up most of the time.
Is the difference between the 2 sizes really that noticeable?

The diameter is only 1/4 of an inch smaller on the size 1.

So would it be that much of a problem to use the smaller size? I don't want to spend money on something that just won't work and I feel weird about returning it for a refund.

I have no clue how it would be for you personally. When I first used mine, I had leaks until I got it in the right position. I don't know if that 1/4 of an inch would make THAT big of a difference though.

I'm kind of on this fence too. I ordered the size 2, but now I'm hesitating opening it because in the package it doesn't look that much different than the size 1. Anyone else have input on the sizing... did you use a size one post-partum?

I'm interested in how this thread plays out...
I bought a mooncup awhile back in the "After Birth" size even though I had a c-section. I WILL get my VBAC (haha) and i'm too stingy to buy the smaller one and then have to buy the bigger one in a year or two. I haven't used it yet though (my af is all wonky). I just figured there wasn't that big of a size difference; could it really make a big difference?

I think it can leak if the size is wrong. I've given birth but I use the the small one.

I'm quickly finding out that getting the wrong size was probably a big mistake.

First of all, I'm a petite person (shorter than 5'), inside and out, apparently. I got the sucker in (albeit with a bit of discomfort as it was a lot bigger than it seemed, yes I folded it into fourths), but getting it out was a different story. It was way up there, around my cervix. I couldn't reach the rim of the cup. The bottom of the cup was just short of the beginning of my vagina; any lower and it would have been protruding, too low for comfort. I decided I wanted to cut the stem off because it was irritating me, so I tried to take it out. I tried to get my fingers up by the rim to break the seal. I couldn't reach it. I tried pinching the bottom of the cup. It didn't break the seal. I tried just pulling it by the stem. THAT hurt. I was in the bathroom for ten minutes trying the get the sucker out. Now I'm scared to try it again. Maybe I should return it.

Any advice?

Fujiko - you have to birth it! It helps a lot to push in a relaxed sort of way. While gently pulling it downwards with your fingers.

HTH.

Bear down and push it to the edge, and then reach in and sqeeze the cup to release the suction... It may "spill", but you are already over the toilet.

I myself have a hard time getting it out because of some big baby head birth trauma. (Forceps, Epi and 3rd degree tear.) I have only used it once post- partum and can't handle the feeling and feelings when removing it.

I also was using the pre-partum size. I bought it and used it for one month before becomming pregnant - I had given up sorta on trying. I had always had a Keeper, but I found them stiff and hard to use. I did find it leaked a little more than usual, but I think it was the positioning.

I hope to use it again... One day.
