Question For Those On Progesterone Supps

I take one supp a day at night.

I'm wondering if progesterone prevents a m/c that is supposed to happen. In other words, can you bleed, cramp while your on progesterone like you would if you weren't on progesterone?

B, not an expert here, but I *think* you will not m/c while on prog. sups... I know in the TTC realm, you have to stop the progesterone to get a period, so it would make sense that if it can stop a period it could stop a m/c too.

My layman's interpretation... hopefully someone else will chime in.

I'm thinking that you don't cramp or bleed either. My friend had m/c this summer on Prog. and did neither. it was only until her 10 week appt that they discovered no HB.

Your screename makes me laugh by the way. I love it.

Interesting question....I am not sure, but I thought it's possible to m/c while on prog. I guess because there are so many different doses, I assumed that if some women can take 100 mg and others 600 mg, maybe that's because some women might m/c on the lower threshold? I don't know, just my guess. My SIL had an m/c while on prog. but we are not close enough that I would have asked her if she bled on her own or just found no HB later. But I know she had her prog increased and then carried her next pg to term.

Anyway I am on 100 mg suppositories twice a day. I hope everything is OK with my little Junebug....my hcg was increasing nicely very early on, I am just kind of anxious waiting until my first u/s so we can hopefully see the HB! My first midwife appt is 2 weeks from tomorrow....can't come fast enough for me!!

I did a saliva test for my hormones back in April & came back with low prog. & all 3 estrogens low. Yippee for me I've been taking a compounded prog. cream for 12 days a month before this pregnancy. Since we tested for the pg, I have to stay on the prog. cream for about 2-3 months before I can stop. If I do stop taking it, I have a higher chance for m/c. I do have to say that I think the prog. cream definitely helped me get pg which was wonderful!!

I'm using pro-gest cream. My mw suggested I use 1/4 tsp once a day, the box says 2x a day. Which should I do?

I have not been tested for levels yet, but since I am 38 and am travelling a bunch next week she thought it would be a good idea.

I would use what the MW suggested, maybe dividing it up to twice a day instead of just once a day...
