Is KitKat a Nestle Product?

I was shopping for Halloween candy and the KitKat bag says something like, manufactured by Reese, a division of Hershey, under license from Nestle. So it sounds like it's a Hershey product but Nestle owns the trademark??? Basically what I want to know is, am I supporting Nestle if I buy them?

I don't know for sure but just seeing the Nestle name on the package is enough of a red flag for me that I haven't had one in a year and a half, lol...

I believe so. Since I learned of the Hershey-Neslte connection I have stopped buying Hershey products as well. It's a good thing my favorite candy bars are made by Mars!

There is some kind of Hershey-Nestle connection on a broader scale? What exactly is the relationship?

Nestle owns kit kat in the rest of tthe world, but licenses to hershey in the us. Rolo is the same way. Other than that- no relation btw hershey/nestle other than competitors. There are a few general mills cereals licensed from nestle also, IIRC.

What the pp said. Here in France KitKat is Nestle. Says so big and bold on the wrapper. Nestle's everywhere...

Interesting, since Hershey in the USA refused to let Nestle buy them out.

Then there's the issue of fair trade chocolate (not harvested by child labor/slaves) which I really want to know more about!

Ah crap. I love Hershey's.

There is something like a 50 year licensing agreement for those 2 products, I believe- it was done a long time ago and will last forever (not actually sure, but from what i recall it is a long term agreement).
