Is this what a "dropped" belly looks like?

According to my MIL she says I've dropped. Just had Dr. appt yesterday and Dr said baby is head down but not engaged yet.... Does the baby have to be engaged in order for the belly to "drop"? Check out this frontal pic of me and tell me if you think this is what a dropped belly looks like. I don't have any belly pics from my first two pregnancies to compare with.

See how my belly is hanging over my jeans? And my belly is super shiney from the skin being so stretched.

I dunno! Is it different than it was before? When I had my son I carried low the whole time. This time I am carrying high although she feels low in there!! LOL

If the head isn't engaged, I wouldn't worry about MIL's comments. "Dropped" means 'engaged', as in 'dropped into the pelvis. I carry 'low' with all my kids and have to listen to comments about having 'dropped' all the time, with predicitions of how soon I'll be in labor. So far, I've been 'late' 5 out of 7 times!

I don't know since I only "dropped" after about 30 hours of labor and pitocin. I think if you have dropped you would feel it in your pelvis. Does it feel different?

I remember hearing in my childbirth prep class last time that it is a bunch of hooey when people look at you and say you have "dropped". That dropped means engaged and that isn't something you can tell by looking at your tummy. It probably looks lowere because you and baby are still growing

I guess I'm just carrying low. My mom claims that when she was pg with my older brother that one day she woke up and looked in the mirror and it was totally different. Her belly that is. She said it was drastically lower than it had been.

I guess I'll just wait and see where that little head is at my next Appt.

When the baby actually "drop", you will totally feel it in your pelvis. I remember towards the very end of my pregnancies feeling like the babies were going to fall OUT. I don't know if that is technically "dropped", but that's how I've always thought of it!!

If your feeling A LOT of pressure then baby has dropped.. I can't really tell from the frontal view.

I dropped at 32 weeks with #1 and carried him right up until 39w4d... I've already dropped with this baby and feel like she's going to fall out.. OUCH!! I was told you don't drop with #2 but now I know it's a myth!! lol
