incidentally, my dh and i were remarking the other night that this babe will most surely come during a very special period for us. we met on 4/13/91 and got together (officially) on 4/26/91. the 13 days in between were really special for us, getting to know one another, staying up til the wee hours every single night, just talking. it's pretty cool that we're most likely gonna have one of our children born during that 13 day stretch. also, his child will be named after my beloved grandfather, who was born on 4/17/99 (that's 1899

stayathomemommy, hows this for inspiration, i just ran into a friend of mine who had twins a few months ago. they were both over 7 (!!!) pounds. and she made it to 37 weeks.

I'm having TWIN BOYS!!!!!!

I haven't been around for awhile b/c since 12/30 I have been worried. On 12/30 I was 26 weeks and measured at 37 weeks.That was tremendous growth considering at 23 weeks I had measured at 23 weeks.I wasn't intending to have an U/S.Though since I was measuring 11 weeks ahead of schedule,my midwife was concerned that I had Polyhydramnio(too much amniotic fluid). This passed Friday, I finally had an U/S...lo and behold I have two baby boys inside me
My boyfriend and my two older son's are thrilled!I have been wishing that someday I would have twins since I was a little girl.I feel SO blessed that my dream has come true.
It does feel kinda wierd that I make up half the household now,lol.
Our car seats five maximum...uh oh!

I was told they won't know if they're identical or fraternal until they are born.I am assuming they have to do a DNA test to find out for sure.Angela's probably more of an expert on twins than I am though.My midwife doesn't even know that I am having twins yet. I wonder if she'll refer me to an Ob.All I know for sure is they are in seperate sacs and Baby "A" weighs just over three pounds and Baby "B" weighs 2 lbs 11 oz's.Anybody care to share how much their singleton's weigh...if you happen to know?
Now we're stumped for names. When we thought we were having a singleton,if it was a boy we were going to name it Jr. Now we feel like that would be showing favoritism.

29 weeks today with twin boys

Well, ds weighed 9oz at 19 weeks according to u/s (which we all know is just a guess, LOL). On the small end of normal, but my dd was small and dh and I are small. No guess on size now and no more u/s either, so I doubt that helps you any!

I'm thinking that I read somewhere that if they are in separate sacs and have separate placentas they're usually fraternal... I think. :

That's so exciting. About names, I always liked "J" names, especially for boys.

It just so happens dh has four "J" names- no connection to why I married him, of course

For a boy it will be Brandon Tristen, and a Girl; Monique and not sure of a middle name yet. But they will have my last name.

I'm carrying low again (first was a girl, this is a boy so they say), but am also already crammed in there because I'm petite. A lot of it has to do with whether you have a long or short torso etc.

Ours will be Jeremy Kenneth after my baby brother who died and dh's dad who died before we married.

A girl would have been something like Audra/Audrey Hope/Faith... something along that line.

At this point, I'll be lucky to have a 3rd baby (dh says we're done) but if we do, odds are we'll probably have another boy. We have a hard time agreeing on boy names, so it worked out well that we are naming him after family. Dh really likes Brandon, but our last name is Sanders and it sounds kinda blah with our last name!

Anyone else getting lots of braxton hicks? Yesterday and today both I've had a few where my uterus was rock hard and it hurt. Didn't last long, but I didn't really have this at all with dd and I was 3cm 80% effaced at 36w.

I was thinking you don't need to be worried unless you're getting 4-6 an hour or something?

My coworker noticed she had more b/h and more of them hurt than her first pg, is this just part of a second or more pg?

Michelle~ Today at my Non Stress Test(NST) appt. I was informed that the two main causes of preterm labor are dehydration and exhaustion.So, it makes sense when we have frequent/strong contractions we drink a glass of water and then lay down on our left side(s). No doubt we'll have to get up and pee pretty soon...hehehe...but then we should go lay down again. It was explained to me that the muscles supporting the uterus get tired from supporting so much weight all day.I,too, have noticed much stronger and more frequent BH contractions than during my pg with my 7 y/o.I'msure much of that is b/c with my first pregnancy I wasn't as able to identify BH contractions.Also 2nd time and beyond mama's are busier b/c they have that younger child to take care of. Laying down ceasig contractions explains why when a person's labor stalls they are encouraged to walk. Needless to say, carrying twins greatly exhausts my body and I must make resting a priority b/c I am at an increased risk of preterm labor.
I also found out today,the determining factor if twins are identical or fraternal is if they have one placenta or two. Idents ALWAYS share a placenta.Frats ALWAYS have their own. The tricky part is two placentas can grow together and appear as one.After the babes are born,if there are tw seperate lacentas they are frat. However, if there is only one placenta,they send the placenta down to the lab to have it determined if it is indeed one placenta or two thatgrew together. All twins can and should be in seperate sacs.If they are in one sac together they run a MUCH greater risk for abnormalities and complications. One potentially dangerous complication from one sac is that they can get all tangled up in eachother's cords.

I am loving learning SO much about twins!!!!!

Yes, I've noticed stronger bh this time around too. Began at around 5 mo. and sometimes, especially if I've been really busy, they can stop me in my tracks.

Had my 28 wk. appt. today. Having a follow-up ultrasound with the perinat. to check the amniotic band. They just want to be sure.

I decided not to do the gest. diabetes test and my midwives were fine w/that. Feeling really good otherwise. Time just keeps flashing by!!! Loving feeling her tickle me all the time. Isn't it just amazing!

Well, had my updated ultrasound yesterday to check the amniotic band. All is well there and our beautiful dd is getting cuter and cuter, but I have excessive amniotic fluid! Last week I declined the glucose test, but the perinatologist recommended that I take it now because the fluid is a sign of gd. So I went to the midwives office and took it. Results should be back within a day or so.

I'm not too worried, but if I do have gd, I can't deliver at the freestanding birth center and have to deliver at the hospital. I REALLY do not want that, but I do want whats best for Amber.

How is everyone else???

Things are good here. This baby moves so much more than my ds ever did. Some days it feels like it is running in circles. I can now get a glimps of what morning sickness feels like, I get motion sickness when it is this active in there .

I am messuring 30 at my 29 week apt. so I am right on track. I think for wieght I am up to 175, so almost 12 lbs over pre-pg weight. : I am not worried.

Well hope every one else is doing good
