I've never been a big fan of these magizine awards, but I've come to think that they could serve as a great outlet to get the word out about the importance of breastfeeding and BF advocacy.

Today’s Parent FOR KIDS’ SAKE Awards:

You have to contact the person you are nominating to get their address and day phone.

Who would you nominate?

BTW, I heard about this from the Enfamil Toddler Years program

Sorry so late in replying. Of course, this feel a little funny to be talking about.

Of course it would be wonderful to be recognized for the time and work I have put into this. And since I am Canadian, and it is a Canadian magazine, I think it is appropriate for me to be nominated. It would really be something to have the magazine highlight the importance of breastfeeding and breastfeeding right & advocacy, by recognizing the nomination of a breastfeeding advocate.

If you all think it should be me, I will need to put together a "resume" of what I have worked on in the past 7 years or so. EEEK! I used to document this, but I have to bring it up to date. That will take some work.

Whomever is going to take the lead on this, contact me at momsformilk@sasktel.net

Honored to be thought of,
Janice

Many of us work is silence helping breastfeeding families and have been for years. Just don't get the loud recognition as some do, or the followers.

There was this user on IVillage March 2004 Playgroup named Carol. I think her username was "carosyrup." Anyway, she was a valuable resource to the ladies on that board. We all looked to her for advice. Whenever anyone of us needed help, she was always there for us and was quick to give us good, supportive advice, without making us feel like idiots. She would routinely link to kellymom's site as well. I think she ended up becoming a LLL leader in her area. Hrmm...I wonder if I can get ahold of her to nominate her...

How nice to recognize the lactivists that help us all so much!

I echo the nomination of carosyrup because she was is such a wealth of information!!! She gave me so much information, guidance and support when I found out that my 5 week-old had allergy problems. She pointed in me in the right direction to learn more and supported me as I chose to give up dairy, soy, eggs and nuts in my own diet in order to safely continue bfing rather than taking the easy way out with nasty, special formula.

Because of her, I have found myself becoming a stronger bfing advocate and still continue to breastfeed now that my DD is a toddler (something I never imagined myself doing before). Thanks carosyrup!!!!

Can you also nominate a website you think? Kellymom has helped me TONS too!!! Even if you cannot nominate a site, they are great.

I am still pretty new to this board, and I am sure that there are also lots of wonderful women here too that are more than willing to help those with bfing concerns/problems/celebrations/etc. so I hope that nobody minds if I nominate somebody from another board. She really did help me a lot!
