true or false? breastfeeding leads to saggy breasts - Page 2

Even Vicki Iovine (the girlfriends guide to pregnancy) says that it's more pregnancy than breastfeeding : I got her books as a gift...I'm sure to get "The Girlfriends Guide To Toddlers" for Christmas this year from my aunt

Pregnancy definitely did it to me. I wore a 34B-C before getting pregnant w/ my first and was in a DD by the end of my pregnancy. That's a big size difference and I would surely have been saggy even if I hadn't nursed my baby.

Myth. It is related to pregnancy, not breastfeeding.

I was "blessed" with a well-endowed chest (note the sarcasm). My breasts were starting to sag well before I got pregnant. When I was about 13 or 14, my boobs had a growth spurt...to a DDD (imagine that on a 5' 1" 115 lb kid). Needless to say, they were pretty saggy by 16.

It's mostly gravity. They are bigger now, and a little saggier, but I expected that. I would never try to blame it on breastfeeding. That's just ridiculus.

It was all the growing mine did that made them saggy. Er, not the breastfeeding!

Here's what I wrote to the fashion editor:

I... 've noticed on several occasions statements like, "after breastfeeding three kids, she needs extra support from her bra." I did a little research and it seems that pregnancy, gravity, and genetics have as much or more to do with sagginess than breastfeeding.

It might seem like a small thing but breastfeeding, for all of its wonderful benefits (I am a big advocate, as you can tell), suffers from bad press a lot of the time, and I'd hate to give women one more (false) reason not to do it.
I'll let you know if I hear back from her -- she's on vaca 'til October 31. Thanks for all the info!

It's age, obesity, and size that makes them sag.
I'm 50 years old, bf my sons for over 4 years each, and bf never hurt them a bit. Getting older, however, has done a number on them. Getting fat didn't help, either. Besides, I agree with those who say that having perky breasts is highly overrated. My dh still tells me my breasts are beautiful, so I don't mind the changes.

Anybody looked at 007b.com? It has pictures of women who were never pg or bf and they have saggy breasts (in come cases saggier breasts than those who were pg and/or bf).

I think mostly size, genetics and gravity. Mine were a bit saggy while bf dd and when she weaned during my 2nd pg I noticed they perked up a bit. This time I'll probably end up tandem nursing so we'll see what they're like in a few years. Mine are small... I've been an enormous C/D in the very early days of nursing but they quickly go back down in size... maybe I'll be small and perky again someday... if not there's WonderBra.

well

I've nursed 4..currently still nursing a 3year old, I'm almost 37 and have no stretch marks or sagging. My boobs never got real big during pregnancy or breastfeeding either. I am small busted (36A) non b/feding and went to 36B b/feding, so I don't know if that made a difference for me.

I've been pregnant and/or bfing for the last 4.5 years. I have to say that my boobs are not saggy and have no stretchmarks. They still look awesome, IMO.

When you typed that Susan, I got to thinking and I've been pg and/or bf for five years and five months without stop. Wow! And chances are good I'll be nursing two come May.

Considering that, my boobs look grrrreat! Besides, they are au naturel, so they aren't going to look like a VS model's boob job. :

I read that and I seriously sighed and said, "I wish I had breasts that droopy." I have done the same thing when I hear about mothers being able to nurse in all these amazing acrobatic positions ("I can nurse while changing a diaper!") Droopy breasts are obviously extremely useful breasts. I am not opposed to mine becoming droopier! (Was 34AA before pregnancy, 34B now.)

I'm 46 and it looks like my nursling is "probably" weaned a few weeks shy of his 6th b'day. My breasts are still perky! But they were a small B to begin with.

Sorry to be so technical! I think the real answer is gravity!

LOL!!
Mine were saggy prebreastfeeding and are even saggier (hmm that word looks funny) now.
