Awww I like the Wiggles too! My DS still likes them occasionally (his fave is Anthony because his favorite color is BLUE! Anthony's my fave too ), but not as much as he used to, and now he gets mad if I sing their songs LOL!

Now he's starting to like some shows I hate (like Dora... UGH! I wanna smack the map all the way to the moon! I like Diego better, though). Oh well...

He watches pretty much anything that is animated... Noggin is on at our house, so is PBS Sprout (though the woman who comes on between the shows on Sprout REAAAAAALLY annoys me : )

When they were your kids' ages they watched Sesame Street, Between The Lions (which may not be on anymore?), Bugs bunny type cartoons, Power Rangers, Barney, and etc. We also had Disney movies, and others that they enjoyed.

We watch "Charlie and Lola," most of the time. They're only about eleven minutes long, so one or two of them don't leave me feeling like I'm rotting his brain Besides, most of the time we're sitting right there next to him on the couch giggling at the show.

Charlie and Lola is cute. I don't think my kids think so but I do!

Our gang really likes Dragon Tales(as much for the one minute song in the middle as for the actual episodes), Dora and now the new Go Diego Go (just started being shown in our area like three weeks ago?), Poko, Charlotte likes Toy Castle from time to time (Its on Treehouse in Canada...its like a little mini ballet), Silas likes Bob the Builder and Thomas, They both like Sesame Street. Oh and Mighty Machines... Is that shown in the U.S anywhere? My son LOVES Mighty Machines.
Up here we dont' get Noggin but I think our Treehouse channel is very similar, pbs like in no commericals, geared to children six and under....
They LOVE Barney, but its a special treat, once or twice a month.

They like some of the Disney stuff but I'm still pretty careful as a lot of it scares my son... he likes Robin Hood but Finding Nemo, 101 Dalmations, Monster's Inc etc tend to scare him at parts so a lot of this stuff is reserved for when he is napping and dd is up on her own and needs to just chill.

I like to keep the t.v. on Noggin during the day for Andrew.

power rangers

My kids were raised on Power Rangers, Batman and The Simpsons. They have done just fine with their lives so far. My oldest is in college studing Nucular Engineering, my middle son in a Freshman in High School with straight A's and on the debate team and does much community service and my little one is 5 and very very normal without any fears and accepts the world as it is. He is also very bright. I think you all shelter your children too much and put too much emphasis on if you should let your child watch 30 minutes of tv a day or 60 minutes a day. If you let them watch and don't make it such a big deal it will not be such a big deal.

Ds likes Bear in the Big Blue House and Bob the Builder.

We generally don't watch any tv, but occasionally the kids will watch some show on PBS on Sunday morning at 8:30am--- Piggly? Yes, it is simply so we can sleep in.

I mostly think tv is a waste of time, but we do watch a movie every week and the kids pick some pretty scary ones.

Nik (2) likes Sesame Street and Dragon Tales on tv. DVDs are Baby Einstein and Blues Clues. I try to limit tv to no more than 30 minutes or 1 video a day, but I admit it is on more than that since Nate was born 3 months ago. We're trying to cut it back to what it was now that we've adjusted to having two babes in the house. I know we had days where he watched 2 or 3 hours!!! a day when Nate was first born. Eeewww....I feel so awful thinking about that.

UnschoolnMa~Our PBS station shows Between The Lions on Saturday mornings. It seems a little old for Nik but he really likes to watch it if we don't get the tv turned off before he sees what's up next.

We have On demand and accidentally dh found Postman Pat.I've never heard of it before. She loves it! Dd loves Sesame Street, Clifford, Dragon Tales.Dora and all the usual suspects. Noggin is pretty good, but this morning she was running around saying 'PBS Kids'.She would watch for hours if we let her.We take a class called Music Together and lately has wanted to 'just sing some songs' All this said we are pretty busy so fortunately she forgets about the tvsometimes, but if we're just hanging out it's always 'another show please' ps Okragirl I see your point!

My dd loves anything on Noggin...except Lazytown --she is scared of the characters. Given a choice, she would LOVE to watch Family Guy or The Simpsons. However, we know better.

This reminds me of something Nik does that drives me bonkers! He has been poking at us and saying "doink" for a couple of months now and I could NOT figure out where he got that from. One day Marc commented on how awful it was that PBS had to use that particular jingle because it certainly gave kids a bad idea. The character points or pokes or something while the song goes something like, "Da da da da, doink, PBS kids!" And being 2 he picked up on that funny little thing. I think he just knew it would drive me nuts! Anyway....back to the topic at hand.

Ds loves Postman Pat too. It's a British show (we are in the UK). We even went to a Postman Pat Village with ds (a kid-sized model vllage built after the show). Great fun

Playschool!! I absolutely love this show and my 3 boys (7, 3 and 1) all love it as well. I think it's the best kid's show ever made. I've been wondering if you get this Australian show over there in the States?
I haven't heard of playschool. What is it ? I love that there are so many countries represented on this forum

Playschool has been running for over 30 years in Australia and I can see why. It's basically got two presenters for a week and they sing songs, make things out of the "useful box", read one book, tell the time, look through the window at a real thing such as birds, balloon making factory, a family with a new baby, etc. It's very realistic so that when they are dressed up or reading books they regularly show the children that this is just a real person pretending or pan back from the book to show the reader. They always have a theme for the week too such as hats, dinosaurs, water, whatever.

I didn't see it as a child since I grew up in Canada but it is WAY better than the stuff I grew up with like Sesame Street, Mr. Rodgers, Mr. Dressup, etc. They never talk down to the children and my 7 year old who's now in grade 2 still loves it. If you are disappointed with kid's tv over there try and order a dvd of playschool (it's made by abc australia).
