she adores those babes and still gets one for Christmas each year
I would love to see a picture of your Dneice holding one of her dolls, if she doesn't mind. I bet she is so cute.

Yep, my dd flipped over those dolls. When we got to the one that was naked she was so happy she said "mom, it actually has the right parts" then she asked if he was circumcised, I said no and she said "good ,I really really really want that baby." My dd is disturbed by the fact that all her baby dolls don't have their genitals, she just doesn't get it. Also my dd is a proud bf'ing baby doll mama!! My son came in and looked at the baby dolls too, he thought they were real. He wants the one with the penis too. He bf's his babies too!

thank you tara! (i was WONDERING where all the babies of color were, too!) o, canada.

i am torn- trying to be not-so-consumerist, and we have a couple of babies- i don't want to teach them to get yet 'more, more, more', or discard their treasured babies for ones that are 'better'... but really wanted them to have a doll that looks like them. maybe i could get them ONE more...

at any rate, thank god people looking today have a choice. it was really ugly when we were all looking & couldn't find any anywhere, not sure if that was archived or not (i'm pretty sure it was pre '01 crash, sadly

I saw these for the first time today on ebay. My dd loves babies and I thought she might like to sit in my lap and look on-line for fun. She was trippin' out about these babies. She just giggles and screams "baby, baby, baby, baby..."
The are so realistic. And the lots of premie clothes people are selling for them really make me wonder if there are women out there with their "babies" dressing them, caring for them, etc as if they were real.
I love baby dolls I had more than plenty growing up, even an uncirced boy doll larger than the berenguer, it was a Jesmar if I remember correctly. He is somewhere around here and has all the newborn wrinkles and wears newborn clothes -- of course, I stopped playing with dolls in high school. But I still love them...
I caved and couldn't resist bidding on one!!! I won for $67ish.
Reborn I won My dd was flipping out over this one. It isn't the cutest, but it isn't ugly either.
I have looked a little bit this evening on-line to inquire more about the REBORN issue and it only disturbs me in that some cases appear to be more than collectibles to grown women. I understand that sometimes a woman needs a baby, but I'm not sure it is healthy for a grown woman to buy a wardrobe for a doll to 'pretend' it's a real baby. But maybe it is...
Of course, I'll be more than happy to sew up some super cute dresses in the most common reborn size and start to Ebay those!!! As soon as I get the one I won, I'll know for sure what size that is.
And yes, my dd is getting it for Christmas 'not a toy' -- ha, she will love that baby to pieces!!!

My Mom got into the Cabbage Patch doll craze when she was in her late 60's - early 70's. She made her own and wardrobes for them. Occasionally when showing them, she would carry them around like a real baby and have a smile on her face like it was funny but I always wondered about what was really going on in her mind. She would look at them as if they were a real baby. She didn't have any grandkids so I wondered if they were some kind of replacement.

She made several of them and either sold some of them or gave them away. I still have two, one not quite finished and one complete with clothes. Every time I look at them, I wonder.

ew. I'm sure that for kids who want anatomically correct dolls, those are great, but the realness factor creeps me out to no end. ew. *shudder*

Here is an intact man... You have to look at the multiple pictures to find the proof.
