I don't make it to Mqt. to gather as much as I used to either. I've been so darned lazy in this pregnancy! Perhaps, I should, rather, call myself "unmotivated" over lazy...but either way, not myself!

I will keep coming! Is it possible, Desi, to put a reminder out a week or at least a few days in advance? I have missed more than one meeting because I was in Mqt. during the day of the meeting and didn't want to make two trips to town (and didn't want to bring C. to the meeting, either).

Anyone know how to check daily/seasonal snowfall totals? I am amazed at the quantity of fluff that fell yesterday, and would like to see how much it was.

thanks--

Trying to stay warm here in Menominee area. : And getting ready for baby #1 to make her debut.

DH is seriously considering attending NMU in the fall, so we are trying to figure out logistics of it now. He'll probably rent an apartment during the week and come back down here over the weekend, but I'd like to have to opportunity to go up with him for a week at a time too with babe because I know how many more opportunities there are for networking and being with other attached parents. Anyway, I just wanted to share!!

Hey mama's! So glad we got a break in the cold weather! A lot of the snow has melted into all of this fun, slushy stuff. We actually got stuck in 6 inches of slush!

Oh yes, wasn't that nice? Loved the sun and warm weather break-- enough to remind you Spring will be here eventually!

RedHot-- recovered from your busy weekend? You have a b-day coming soon, yes??

Marquette was lovely, what a fun town. DH and I had an Ultimate Frisbee Tounament in the big dome on Sunday. The girls were marvelous and I loved running and leaping and catching and trying to keep up with the 20 year olds. I also loved Target, Border Grille, Huron Mt. Bread and Chinese delivery to our hotel room! Marquette rocks, with it's hip co-op, fishy smelling children's musueum and old school Getz's.
Home is great too, and the living is fine in Hancock.

Boy has it ever been quiet U.P. here!!! RHMama is so blessed with a great reason to stay home, but where is everyone? We dragged ourselves to church but came right home to rest by the stove and recoup. I'm thinking its a head cold, but yowey is everyone ever grumpy. Can it really be the end of February already? Sheesh! Well we'll be here watching the bird feeder and reading through our huge book of Tales by Yolen, sipping tea, and blowing, blowing, blowing... Love and winter peace to everyone!

I don't think anyone knows who I am or realizes that the Soo area is actually part of the UP, LOL, but I'm gonna give you all a brief update and ask some questions! For starters, our foster kids should be leaving within the next couple of weeks, to be adopted by their wonderful aunt and uncle downstate. We are looking forwards to our next placement, and hoping to finally have a little girl in the house! We're also hoping for a keeper this time!

I finally quit my extremely stressful job at the mental health agency, and within a week of quitting, I had 2 jobs, at the health food store and as an aid at my children's after school program. I'm really enjoying it.

Now that I am finally learning to eat healthy, I would like some advice on how you all have learned to be healthy while living in the UP. We have such a short growing season, and all the snow makes exercising very difficult. What do you all do to live healthy, and care for the earth at the same time?
Well MPJJJ, one of the things RH and I do is Xcountry ski to stay sane. A little bit of fresh air and you have a new mama, better than ever. Eating locally is a real challenge this far north, but as fresh and as raw as possible is the best way I know of to stay healthy. We have pure water issues around here, so we make a real effort to drink only purified water, and boy does it help! I love to visit local farms and buy produce and eggs, the whole giving back thing is important to our family. We are members of a buying club and keep a deep old fashion pantry to last a long while. Less trips to town and healthy-er choices at our finger tips.

Good for you wanting to green your life and health, Spring is in the air I can smell it, a perfect time to make changes and freshen up our rhythm. From the Bible in Eccles. and the Mama's and the Papa's- There is a season! COME ON SPRING! Green, healthy thoughts coming east to ya mama, we'll think of you this summer on our way over the Mighty Mac to visit crunchy trolls and trolls in law

I'm there!

I'm in the midst of moving back to Deerton (to stay!).
We bought a little 800 sq. ft. house on Sand River (Mrs. Cheerful, close to that beach at which we once met). I've been trying to move for two weeks, but the snow and the weather have been outta this world! We got 21 in. in one day last (not this past) Sunday! The road (M-28) has been closed several times in the past two weeks (more than I even remember), and my new house is in the middle between Munising and Mqt.

Today is amazing and gorgeously sunny. It gives me hope.

Be well and warm, mamas!
