I'm FINALLY compiling labor music!!!

I don't have a bag packed for the birthing center yet, but dammit I'll have music!!! It's no wonder I have tried putting this off for so long...it's SUCH a tedious job when you have NO clue what you'll be in the mood for! I'm working on my third cd...just in case!

Ugh. I haven't even started this chore yet. In fact, I haven't started any of it and really, really should be packing my birth bag as we speak.

I hear you about having no clue what I'd be in the mood for... this is the only time in my life I've really wished for an I-pod so I could just load everything on MP3 and sort out playlists when the time comes. Plus, then I wouldn't feel so bad if after all the effort I put into CD orginization all I wanted was silence, which is what I kind of suspect will happen.

I told DH this weekend that he needs to make a birth playlist for me. I asked for calm, mellow music, lots of Buffett. I was wondering if I might want an angry, hard rock playlist as well, in case the mood strikes (transition, anyone )

Its one of the last things that need to be done before this babe can be born.

Yep...that's why I ended up with 3 CDs!!! Two of them are slower, but one is more upbeat. I have a handful of soundtracks and other CDs that I'm taking along, too. Matrix soundtrack might be good for transition! hehehe

My music is in the birth bag along with little speakers we hooked up to a 9 volt battery (I was warned that we can't plug ANYTHING in in the birthing room!) and I had a similar challenge - am I going to want Ace of Base and workout music, or my regular Rusted Root, Dylan, Buffet, Cat Stevens, Enya combo? Who knows? I ended up bringing a helluva variety, just in case. Doesn't take up that much room, considering I'm brinigng an mp3 player and two speakers anyway....our birth bag(s) look like we're moving in.

I feel like singing Jon Denver's "my bags are packed - I'm ready to go..." with just over a week left until EDD, I wake up every day saying "Maybe today!!"

My sweetie JUST got a new job (yesterday!) that cuts his commute time from 3-4 hours per day to under an hour, so he can spend more time with me and our newbie. I'm so excited!!!

I've been thinking about it but that's as far as I've gotten! So far all I've thought of is ocean sounds, and this "ohm" cd that is played in our yoga class. I hadn't even thought of having dh just download stuff....another task for me to ask him to do! Poor guy, he has more on his plate right now getting ready for the birth than I do!
