More today--I am making wednesday & saturday my clean up & get rid of stuff days as those are the two days the dump/recycle center is open. So I can toss it & DH brings to dump/transfer station before I can change my mind.

So far: 2 drawers of bathroom junk--old make-up---pretty much empty hair products--old skin care things......

OK, today was good. I gave teh following away to freecyclers:

teflon pan
misc measuring cups
utility knives
steak knives
spoon rest
computer monitor

I'm over my 150 goal, technically. We cleaned out the books, VHS and CD cabinets on SAt/Sun. I had over 110 CDs alone to sell. (I'm going to try secondspin.com)

Anyway, I'm counting CDs, books and VHS as only 1 each, so my new total is 49.

Well I'm late but I'll join! I've been apathetic about housework lately. I need this jumpstart. I start in the morning.

Last night I threw several things out of the downstairs medicine cabinet. And tonight I got sidetracked in the kitchen cabinets. But, I'm up to 40/150.

I guess if we could get to the recycling center, we could add that in too.

does emptying out the bulk or trash email box count?
just checking...

I'm in! I need a swift kick in the rear end to get this place in shape for the holidays!

Today I freecycled 6 movies and one coat. Also got a huge trash bag full of clothes ready to go to Goodwill. Yeah!
So.. I think I'm up to about 27.
We're having all of our carpeting replaced and I'm so embarassed about the clutter, so that's another motivational factor for me

I've been bad about keeping a tally on here but let me try to remember what I've purged so far...

3 bins of plastic toys - donated to local kid's place
1 baby swing - sold to resale shop
1 bassinet - sold to resale shop
3 strollers - sold to resale shop
1 boppy - sold to resale shop
1 diaper bag - sold to resale shop
4 bags of baby clothes - donated to Salvation Army
2 water tanks - given to dump swap shop
Total so far: 16 items

I've got a ways to go here!!

I was inspired by another thread on this forum and threw away about 40 old greeting cards. I'm going to count them as 20 items. I also threw away a travel toiletry case I've had for almost 15 years. It was in pretty sad shape and I bought a new one so it was time for it to go.

New total - 88

I think I got rid of more than 150 things this morning. We dug out winter clothes and cleaned the closet in the meantime. 3 garbage bags full of clothes, a printer and an old sterea are all in the back of my truck to be dropped off at our local thrift store tomorrow morning.

AND...I can now walk into my walk-in closet instead of having to reach WAYYY over things.

Mind a new comer??

I just listed a bunch of stuff on my local freecycle. This thread has totally inspired me. We have SO much 'stuff' My DH collects a lot of stuff : so its inevitable that we dont have much spare space. So Im getting rid of all of my maternity clothes, well the stuff I dont LOVE and all of the boys baby clothes that Im not super attatched to (we arent done having babies) Im getting rid of lots of books oh and 8 months worth of "Parents" magasines (or is it "parenting" ?) once I found MDC I couldnt read that drivvel anymore so they just stacked up in a box.
So how do I could items? a book is one? a mag. is one? but junk you throw out? is that counted?
If you burn an ezzo or pearl book does that count? : (Ive never owned one...just wondering though)

wow! I had NO idea freecyclers were so prompt :
I listed maternity clothes, NWOT clothes, books, baby stuff (bouncey, walker, glider and ottoman-stuff we barely used) and its all spoken for or gone! Over 100 items! WOW! And I found a crunchy Mamma! She bfs and cloth diapers! : AND she lives a few blocks away from me! YAY!! I told her my boys (Ds1 is turned two in Sept and DS2 turns one Dec 17th) were in fuzzi bunz right now and she emailed me back saying her 2 year old was in a wonderoo and her baby born on DECEMBER 17TH (!!!) was in a FB. What are the chances?!! CRAZY!
Im going to start singing 'Its a small world' soon

That is too funny!!! I found a cloth diapering mama on my local Freecycle as well She accidently washed and dried her larger-sized Aristocrats. I picked it up for my DD and it was a perfect fit. I'm hoping she has some more accidents

I have nothing new to report -- we took this weekend off from cleaning out because we had houseguests yesterday and today the weather was too nice. Lame excuse, I know

Do old pens w/ out ink & dead pencils & markers count?? If so...I did well today!

Not throwing too much stuff out, more organzing. This morning:
Emptied slide projector holders (slide projector long gone!) and consolidated slides to be put on cd (and given as Christmas gifts). Threw out holders.

Consolidated big, half empty box of random stuff in closet into smaller box, making lots more room in closet.

Organzied under sink and found 4 packs of AA batteries, each with 2 batteries taken out. I am set for life with batteries now.

Found place for lids on shelf near stove, instead of having to search in low cabinet for lid when needed.

Yay for the aristocrat cover!! Score!
Ive never received off of freecycle but today was my first time giving its so nice to give some stuff a home! I had a bunch of really 'nice' name brand clothing new with tags or new without tags that I just got rid of. My mom likes to shop for all the 'girls' for Cmas at the same time/place. She buys myself, my SIL and my step sister matching clothing We are all very different personality and shape wise so most of my Cmas gifts from her have never been worn :

I can't believe all of the old art supplies I tossed today---one pencil I am saving----because it's from @ 25 years ago---my parents--(both artists)--had a set of drawing pencils---turquoise w/ silver ends...and I found one--here in my house--today--HOW??? This pencil (now just @ 2 1/2 inches long) holds so many memories.

26 books are waiting in a box to be taken to the consignment shop tomorrow. I am really proud of my DH for letting them go.

Hopefully in the morning I'll be able to add some more items to the box.

Listing some more stuff on freecycle as well...I should hit 150 by the weekend. Yeah!!!!

New total - 114
