oh. OH. OOOH. mine is serious literary fiction therefore so hard to summarize

the main character is discovering how her identity is intertwined with the identity of her mother, her past life memories, her childhood memories, and possibly (i was told by the nano people not to ever delete) with the parallel life she is living with her husband . if i delete, i would lose more than 2000 words, and it is a big NO NO at nano.

hm. this summary actually helps me to see where i am going. ask me again next week.

Uh, already did that

Anna, it's not a NaNo story, it's a Harry Potter fanfic story I got sucked in by the Harry Potter thread (here on MDC). There was a story in which Snape (yes, Snape) kisses the palm of Hermione's hand (uh, it made sense, really it did) and some of us complained about the lack of palm kissing in our lives

And cool about your story! Why do you want to delete the husband thread? You don't like the writing or you don't like the plot? I like the past life thing too

I did go to NaNo forums last night to ask help from the Romance writers. I think I got it. I briefly thought of signing on there regularly (they have a Vampire thread ) but then decided I'd rather chat with MDC moms Besides, I don't need another forum to waste writing time on

We are taking the kids to see Wallace and Gromit today. I'm trying to get ten minutes writing in before we go. On the one hand, I shouldn't be writing on MDC but on the other hand, even when I'm only talking to myself I seem to get something out of posting on this thread

so where is that fanfic story? so much publicity, i wanna read it now!

PSA: Wallace and Gromit is not suitable for a sensitive 3 year old. Live and Learn. I'll see the end someday

anna, NOT that you have the time to read this right now but here it is http://ashwinder.sycophanthex.com/vi...y.php?sid=7032

Anyway, in other news I KNOW HOW SHE KILLS THE BAD GUY!!!! : Driving home from grocery shopping tonight (I mean, how mundane can you get!) it came to me. Actually, driving TO the grocery store I first got some ideas on how to expand the backstory I'm working on right now and make it more believable. It was a great grocery trip all round

Owen fell asleep at 7 o'clock (usually it's 9:30 or later) so I'm a bit nervous he'll wake up at 1, but there's not much I can do about it now. Robert and Bridget are out taking a walk to the corner store and I'm alone and about to get typing. I'm so excited!

Ok, no one laugh at me too hard, but I'm writing away and suddenly feeling really bad for what I'm doing to my main character. This poor girl has no idea what's going on and I'm just gleefully putting her through the ringer. Poor thing.

This may be old tip- but I discovered it you write out "Chapter such and such" along with a cheesy chapter title- it gives you five or six more words!

Well, a very productive night. I'm up to 12,044 now. I think I should call it a night. I need some sweetness and light, care bears and rainbows, that sort of thing That last scene was a little intense there and I'm feeling just the teensiest bit creeped out right now.

Anyone writing any light hearted humor? Care to share?

Wow Shannon, I am so impressed! Congrats! And, although it pales in comparison, I came to update that I have begun my story finally and have 1,309 words! YAY! I got a little time to write tonight and managed to get it going but it is not the slightly racy but oh so interesting story I thought I was going to write, but instead something I have wanted to write down for several years now. (I'm still going to write that other story though ) I will be thoroughly shocked if I cannot pull 50, 000 words out of it and as I already know the beginning, the middle, and the end and I know the charcters inside and out, all I have to do is write it down. That's all--just write it down. Off to watch SNL....good night!

Whew...*wipes sweat off brow*

I'm at 10,055. Yea, I was at 2,292 two days ago. I'm happy with that number. My goal was 10,002 at the end of the day (per calculation on the NaNoWriMo home page). I may or may not write more tonight.

I know I should write when the writing's good but I'm slightly tired of my characters. They're cooler than me.

update. haven't done as much writing on the weekend as i hoped to.

got lost in my novel.

this morning counted my chapters -- 12.

summarised them, and planning to post on the wall. i think i need more than 50 K, but i don't feel like writing more at this time

how is everyone else doing?
i am a bit out of steam.

hmmm am i the only one still writing?

i went for a nap with the kids, BOTH fell asleep, and i actually got up, put Max in the wrap to keep him asleep, and wrote 2000 words. because while i was trying to nap, i figured out where my novel was going!

Anna, you're reading a book right now? Wow! I inter-library loaned the final book of a trilogy about a month ago. When do they finally find it? Now. When I'm busy and don't have the time to read it. Humph.

I'm still writing I'm feeling very hormonal though. I mean, actually honest to goodnesss hormones. That's the problem with the write a novel in a month thing. My bad guys are supposed to be evil and instead they'll be cranky and whine a lot. Hmmm, this *would* explain why the main character has eaten nothing but Oreos and Coke for the last few days (hindsight - 20/20)

by 'being lost in my novel' i actually meant being lost in MY novel , i.e. in my nano novel. and this is not a good thing -- it means i don't know where i am going, and what is even worse, i don't remember where i have been.

hm, i am no help with your bad guys. i have no bad guys

but good tip -- i should feed mine. mine are mostly drinking tea -- russian types.

ok then Good luck getting "found"

Yup, looked at the calender, did the math and I'm so in trouble here, This would explain why I've been feeling bad for my main character and why I suddenly don't want to kill off someone (MAJOR plot point and if I don't do it, it will change the whole story) because "he's sooooooooo niiiiiiiiiiiiiice".

I've decided I'll just pretend it's not coming, It's going to be at least a chapter, maybe two, before he bites it, so maybe by then I'll be in a better hormonal state and able to do the job right.

Yeah, that's it, the head in the sand approach to writing

Did anyone else log into the NaNoWriMo site? I'm really enjoying the nifty little bar thingie that shows you how far you have to go It's sort of an incentive to update my word count every few hundred words
post #99 of 155
I love that bar thingy, too, Shannon!

(I posted twice on the NaNo forums just to see the little blue bar again! Is that lame or what?)

Did you see the board called "I hate myself and I want to die?" I haven't needed that one yet, but it's nice to know its there if things get bad...

152 words to go till my today's minumum. can i write blah 152 times? lots of things can happen in literary fiction, right?
