Disinfectant?

Does anyone know what I could use for washing all of the kids' toys? Normally, I just use hot water. But with both of them getting over a nasty cold (and yes, the toys are just covered in their goop), I want to make sure they're good and clean. And since they're toys that the kids chew on, I obviously don't want to use anything harsh.

Any ideas?

I agree with this. Hot water is amazing. Can anything be put into the dishwasher?

TTO I have plenty of. But what the heck is Dr. Bronner's? And where do I get it?

Dr. Bronners is an all natural multi-purpose soap. Pretty amazing stuff.

I occasionally throw some of dd's plastic toys in the dishwasher. For other things, I wipe them down with 50% vinegar / 50% water.

You can get Dr. Bronner's at a health food store, Co-op or even my local groccery store now carries it. It is a liquid soap.

What about using rubbing alcohol? I recently found out that a number of moms I know are doing that. Does anyone have any reason not to use rubbing alcohol??? I'd be curious to know. Thank you.

I agree ,Jen, on Shaklee's Basic-G it is safe and non-toxic. Lots of daycare's and church nurseries use it.

I sell it as well so if someone is looking for the product please come visit me online at: http://www.shaklee.net/ambie!

Yep, the basic G will do the trick, and I'll gladly give you my shaklee discount if you (or anyone else) wants to try it

I put everything that can go into the dishwasher in there. Wooden toys get wiped down with hot soapy water. Stuffed toys just go in the washer. I guess I'm not really much of a germaphobe.

The only toys I've bleached were a HUGE garbage bag full of ball pit balls I got from freecycle. I poured them into the tub with some bleach and just kept spraying them with teh shower head till I thought they were clean. Man, that was a mess! but we filled a tent with balls and my boys were seriously thrilled!
