Monday morning I woke up at about 0500 with strong contractions, 2 minutes apart. Got the pool and all the supplies set up. Rob came home from work around 8. Went and got a few last things.
Contractions started slowing down around noonish. Took a nap. They started right back up around three; woke me from my nap in fact. Not as close together this time. Got the pool filled and got in around 2230. Got out around midnight, when the thunderstorm rolled in (we had everything set up out on the front porch)--so much for the theory that falling barometric pressure starts labor! Labored all freaking night long. Tried to sleep, to no avail. Finally around 0600 I was able to start sleeping in between contractions, & when I got up again around 1000 or so, they were all but gone.
And that's where I've been since yesterday. I'm still having a few contractions here and there, but they aren't often enough or regular enough for me to bother trying to time them. Checked last night & I am only 1 or 2 cm dialated.
To make matters even more fun, we made the mistake of calling our mothers when we thought this was the real thing. My mom is cool about it having stopped, since the baby is doing just fine. Rob's mother, however, thinks that we should rush off to the hospital.
Um, yeah. Contractions slowing down and then stopping (we haven't elaborated on the "every once in a while" thing)--what the medical establishment has termed 'false labor'--is a good reason to go to the hospital. Nevermind that they would only send me home. She flipped out on him yesterday afternoon when he called to update her, & had his dad call him at work today. I don't think they realize how mad he is at them...Thank God he trusts me more than he does his parents, but it's still starting to eat at him.
Sigh. Hopefully, this weekend.
