announcing our boy & girl name choices

OK, I have butterflies in my stomach as I do this -- since I have been pretty secretive about this, BUT, I think we have narrowed it down to this (and I DO reserve to right to change at the last minute):

Boy (and I think that it is a boy):

Theodore Caulfield (nn Ted or Teddy; Caulfield is the middle name, a family name from my side)

Girl:

Diana probably-Caulfield though not settled on middle name totally

Both are 3 sylables and sound good with our 2-sylable last name.

For me, it is important that the names go well with our last name, of course that I love the way they sound -- and I am interested in the meaning of the name. I am not totally thrilled that Theodore means "gift of god" since we are not regligous and I have problems with some organized religions. I like anything that refers to pre-christian relgions, though like Diana, and since Theodore is Greek, I feel that it is more refering to a god in general rather than a specific god, like the christian or jewish god. Anyway, a lot of the aversion to the saint names has come only recently, since before we got married MIL has been trying to convert us to the catholic faith, so I have become defensive in response to this.

I just have always loved the name Theodore. And Diana, goddess of the moon and huntress, I don't think anything could be cooler than that!

Well, the names are pretty much chosen so not much point to tell me if you hate them -- but just wanted to share.

i love the name diana!

and as far as ted, or teddy for the nickname, that's what our boy's nn is going to be.....Thomas Edward Emmi is his full name.........teddy for a boy is just unbearably adorable. oh no. 'unbearably'? 'teddy'? get it? snort snort.

I have always loved the name Diana growing up and you just dont hear it very often anymore. So I think its a lovely name for a baby girl.

And Teddy is quite cute! I am liking little "old man" names a lot lately!

our DSs middle name is my moms maiden name, our DDs is my DHs moms maiden name and Frances is my DHs grandma who lived until she was almost 100.

I LOOOOOVE the name Teddy! I think it's fabulous. And I Diana is quite appealing when you think of the meaning, as well. Great names!
