Geography and Spelling Curriculums

My child is studying on a 1-2nd grade level. I have been using Sonlight curriculum, but I am not satisfied with the spelling program. (Too easy and too few words, IMO) Any good suggestions?

Also, I am interested to know how these kids in 2nd grade are entering Geography Bees....is that their main focus or do they just have a great curriculum? If so, WHAT curriculum are they using?

I don't know if they have a 2nd grade level, but I love Vocabu Lit for spelling. I do know that the 8th grade book is book J so there is a good chance that there is a 2nd grade book.

well it looks like it starts with book F in 6th grade. OK so where is A-E? If I find anything I'll let you know

I knew I saved this information for a reason This website is actually directed at kids with dyslexia, but as we discussed in our HS meeting, the program makes sense for all kids! It's called Seqeuntial Spelling The first 8 lessons are on the website for free.

this is second grade spelling for free every word you need and the 25 most commonly mispelled words for 2nd graders. I am too cheap to buy spelling curriculum, we play a lot of scrabble and boggle. If you want the best IMO spelling resouce I would use avko, I have met this man and he is Brilliant!!

Good luck to you!! and as far as geography goes, the kids that do bees IMO again, my #1 ds does the spelling one, have a personal interest and are well read in the subject, not really a product of a superior curriculum, but of selfmotivation because of an intrinsic reason, Also you see kids that have drilled and committed to rote memorization by going through a series of books.
