MT i'd love to see this article but i'm not a member of medscape and it says you have to be a health professional. Have you got time to give a quick outline? From the graphic it seems that Hib is going up as the dominant strain. Why is that tho? Sorry!

I registered and am not a professional. There is a section on the registration form for 'comsumer' so I selected that.

ok thanks jojo i registerd and read article. Still quite don't understand why hib pathogen has increased in ear infections - they don't seem to explain it.

I seem to recall the one and only time dd got the Prevnar shot in 2001, we were told by the doc that it was for ear infections. Then I read the package insert a few weeks later (after her reaction : ) and it said that it did not in any way prevent ear infections.

FWIW, both dd and ds have never had an ear infection and dd was regrettably vaxed to 6 months and ds has not had any.

Yeah, it is.

Now I just want to see the graph that shows the # of cases per population % for those years.
I have a feeling it might be a very boring, very straight line.
