Ok abby has always had pretty dry skin, she's had like craddle cap since she was born, but now it's not so thick it's more flackly and dh wanted me to start using his head and sholders on here, there's no way that stuff has some harsh stuff in it. she has such fine and thin hair that doesn't help i'm sure. But now her arms are dry, scally almost, and there are a few places she has itched raw and has scabs. this just happend over night when we had our first heavy frost. it's awful... what should i be using on her??? I figure natral stuff is prolly best even though i usally don't use all natral stuff, just what ever works. but since this has been on going since birth maybe i need to look at more natral stuff for her... when she was little i use to have to wash her clothes a lone in "free" detergents and i find myself always blaming myself since i only BF her till 6 months it prolly didn't help her skin issues.. OH my thanks for listening please tell me where to shop! LOL

A couple of ideas...first off, what are you washing her clothing in now? Both of my boys have eczema flareups if I used anything with enzymes in it (Tide, Wisk, Cheer, etc.)

My mother has skin problems and has resorted back to washing with baking soda in the wash and TTO in the rinse and her skin has cleared up.

And lastly, my cousin (seems to be a hereditary thing) had such dry skin he was teased and called "Gator boy" and they found that he had a wheat allergy. Once they cut wheat out of his diet *used rice flour etc. for cooking*, his skin cleared right up.

Good luck!

I use this stuff called Bag Balm. It is an udder cream for cows that I usually pick up at Tractor Supply, but I have seen it in Walgreens from time to time. It is in a green square can. I slather it on before bed cover the area with clothing. You might want to see if she has eczema though

for eczema do i need to take her to the dr?? I think it's just dry skin b/c it only happends in the fall/winter time, not change to laudry or diet so i don't think that's it either...

whats the differance?

I would get a Dr.'s opinion first off, to see if they can identify specifically what you're dealing with (they can tell you for sure if it's eczema).

And I was also going to mention allergies.

My son developed ezcema at three months. The doctor did prescribe a cream that helped at first, but later on did not (eridel (sp?), i think it was). I found that burts bees buttermilk lotion caused it to flare up, also strong detergents. Some sunscreens were the worst for irritating his skin - i found California baby was the only one he would tolerate.
Since he was only3 mths when it developed, the dr said it could be a sign of potential food allergy - so we were very careful when introducing foods. there can be a link - so worth investigating!

If you think it's just dry skin from it being cooler/dryer, you could try rubbing olive oil into her skin too.
