Anyway, my appt is November 28th and I have a silly question. Is it normal to bring your hubby to the first appointment? I want him to go with me because he's in on it too........
I scheduled my first mw appt for Nov 11 b/c DH has the day off for Veterans day (nice perk of being a gov't employee) and he can come with me. When I mentioned this at the time of making the appt, the receptionist seemed like it was routine to have DH there!

i bring my dh to as many as he can make ... which has been none since maybe month six of my pregnancy with my son. he does like to be there, his schedule just doesn't allow. also, he forgets.

My MW doesn't see patients until they are 12 weeks! I can't make it that week, then the next week is christmas, so I will actually be 14 weeks before I am seen, Dec. 29th is my first appt.! This strikes me as really late... I might call and ask to be seen sooner, I'm just wanting to get in and get things all set, KWIM? 14 weeks is long, right?

I had my first appt last night! I have to say that I totally LOVE LOVE LOVE my midwife! Unfortunately I will be seen by all 3 midwives in the practise because they are all on call different days, but supposedly they are all cool and "crunchy."

At first I was a little taken aback because when she came in she looked about my age and was really hip and a bit ditzy! Then as the appt went on I felt more confident, she has had 3 kids of her own and she made me feel as though we were on the same level, not a dr/patient "put you down" relationship at all. She even referred to the trans/vag ultrasound as the "dildocam" HA! My dh really likes her as well. And thats something thats very important to me.

I am new here. I am preggers with #4. My midwifes say they like to see you before you get pregnant. I saw mine this time around last week - when I was 5 weeks 2 days. They give us ladies prenatal vitamins, prenatal herbals, raspberry tea and whatever else we need. I need Liver support because of gallstones, so I got that too. It is all included in the midwives fees. It is nice because I dont have to go shopping around, or wondering what I should buy for this or that ailment.

Anyay, I thought I would share since my experience is quite a bit different from all of yours. I am happy to be here.

I'm so happy you had such a wonderful experience! It sure makes a difference having someone you are confident in, and who has a great bedside manner...

That's kinda the way it is here in Singapore. There are no pharmacies that you take an Rx to for your meds. If your doc prescribes a med for you, he also dispenses it. Kinda weird going home with the stuff you need (and not having to run round town and then wait for it to be filled).

So, same goes with my OB. Prenatals, etc I can find at his office too. Kinda cool...(not sure 'bout the teas - I'll have to check next time)

Btw....WELCOME & Congratulations!

Same here... My first appt with my MW is on Jan 2nd, at which point (I think!) I'll be 13 weeks and some. I was just told there's not an awful lot that they need to do before that point. Take vitamins (or not, personal choice of course), eat well, don't drink/smoke... All that good, common sense stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with seeing a MW/OB earlier, just trying to ease your worries

Theres was something bonding about that moment!

Jinkel- Thanks! In fact it makes me feel less uneasy about displaying my private parts when I know my midwife has a sense of humor.

Congrats on the HaveWool.....
