miffed at my OB

Thread Starter
I went in to see my OB today because I have such a bad sore throat I can't talk. They did a strep test and I should have the results tomorrow.

Anyway since I was in I asked him if he would try the doppler since I am gonna be 11 completed weeks tomorrow. He said "we can try but don't scream and cry if we don't get it". Ok I have been known to cry a couple times in my OB's office (when they could not get a hb with doppler at 12.5 weeks with my dd I was upset - it was my first pregnancy. I was worried - I have a tilted uterus and everything was fine - just too far back to get the HB) - I cried another time when I went in to go see him at 14 months postpartum when my periods came back and I was suddenly having problems with anxiety and depression. I teared up and probably cried a little when I had a m/c even though it was only 2 days after I found out and it was 3-4 weeks). Ok so I have cried in there but still. I have never screamed. Gheesh.

I am a anxious person and yes the whole office nows me by name and voice since I call enough when pregnant. I can't believe he said "scream." I mean what does he think of me?

I will probably write more later, but that is enough for now.

Also, they did not get the HB, but at 11 weeks I did not expect them to since they could not with dd.

Babydoll, I am so mad he treated you that way. Besides being uncaring, it's patronizing and very unprofessional. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I have cried in front of my OB more than once, and he's been nothing but supportive. That's part of their JOB.

Makes me so mad for you!

I would be angry too! No one should treat you that way, esp. not your doctor! I don't know where people get this idea that they can trivialize other people's emotions like that. It doesn't matter if you cried 1,000 times in his office, he's there solely for your support and care.

I'm sorry he was so inconsiderate, Mama. And I hope that you feel better soon

he needs some lessons in bedside manner. What a jerk. Sorry you feel bad.

UGH, have I ever told you how much I dislike Dr's? He sounds like a jerk for even making that comment.

You know...we should all call up and pretend to be new patients....then call back and cancel cause we heard he was a sexist CREEP that had no respect for pregnant women.
