running, wogging, walking mamas - NOV - it's cold! - Page 2

Hi Mamas, I am subbing too.

I did a 50 minute bike this AM. It was exhausting. I think today I need to listen to that deep core of fatigue inside my body. Maybe will do some gentle yoga this afternoon if the kids nap.

Will come back later for more personals.

Love, ND

Wow everyone has been so chatty lately. No time for personals again. I need to go play scrabble with Kelsy. Thinking of you all.

Planning a run in an hour or so with dh. Great job everyone.

ND-Sorry about the increased bleeding. hope this is the end of it. Great job on the 50 minute bike and 50 min run. Hope you had fun with your friends. The picture is great.

My dad bought DH life insurance for the next 3 years since he is the breadwinner (dh, that is) and rides his bike every day to/from work. Turns out, Dh learned, it is highly recommended to get SAHMs life insurance too because your work = $150,000/yr! No kidding! We could have told you that! We manage by not buying anything but groceries and paying bills; no clothes, no eating out, no going out, our furniture includes a collection of chairs that we found on the side of the road over the years - broken throw aways - that we repaired, stained, and have had for 7years! The most recent one I picked up on my way home from the Y one morning; slung it over my head and continued on my way. My *best* shower towel is 16 years old! I know this b/c it was monogrammed (a gift) and includes the date: 1989! We have 3 more years of this, and then maybe we can buy some new towels and chairs

joining in. My mom is buying me a jogging stroller since the streets are bad on mine!

sophmama - wow! your family is fast.

my3kids - thanks for the report on VCM. i've known several people to run it and it sounds like a pretty fun time. it would also be great because i wouldn't have to travel.

still taking it easy here. i thought about trying to go climbing, but the reality is my body is pooped and even dh said that i should knock it off for a few days. we'll go for a family walk in the woods in a little bit and tonight i have some major organizing to do for my soap biz. all that will make me very sleepy.

here's the info on the Vermont City Marathon - rumor has it that the marathon doesn't fill up until the first of the year.

Hi ladies!!

Boy, out for the day and the thread is two pages long already!! Thanks for linking me to the new thread, I really appreciate that. How do you change what the link actually says? I think some one asked that a little bit back but I didnt' see the answer (been struggling to keep up with the thread and life the past few days). LIke if the link is actually http and www and all that stuff, but I want it to say "Christmas idea" instead? Hope this is making sense.

I was here in spirit this morning, even though I got up too late to check in. I have been up more than normal the last few nights with ds3 and increasing the mileage so I have been needing much more sleep. Been going to bed earlier and still sleeping through the 6AM alarm. I know it will get easier as the kids get bigger so just dealing with it right now. Only had time for 5 miles this morning but it felt great!

ND, thank you SOOOO much for the knitting link!! I can't wait to try it out! I am super excited! Sorry for the bleeding and what you are going through.

I have a GPS, although I haven't used it for a while since I have to run on the TM. I love it though! It is so much fun and really great for training.

Well, I've printed off the pumpkin and lasagna recipes, thank you! Going to try one next week! Oh, the pumpkins that you carve are different than the pumpkins that you eat. I found that out last year.

Great job everyone for your dedication to running, healthy eating, balancing your lives and families, and supporting us all here too!

easy way to explain:

click on the earth icon above the text box you type in.
it popos up a dialog box that says text you want displayed for the link, then a second one that says something like link.

when you close those boxes it will have inserted the right html language into your text box.

Can you expand? I have a memory once of boiling down and mashing the flesh of a pumpkin to use in pumpkin bread... I think it was just a regular carving type pumpkin. I thought the only other special kind were those small sweeter ones that they bill as "pie pumpkins." I'll be bummed if all this other pumpkin is good for is seeds.

Yipes, Saskiasmom, I hope you're feeling better. I've had plugged ducts a few times. I third the chin thing -- that and long hot showers have helped me. I remember when DD was littler and I had a plugged duct. She woke up in the middle of the night and I hovered over her in what was probably some esoteric asana to get her chin just so! Maybe your yoga practice will help w/this! Your DH's comment cracked me up.

Kinsey43 and Ashleigh!

Kerc, love the pic. Cuties! Thx for the lesson on links!

ND, WTG on the bike ride. How ya doin mama?

Shanti, . I get tired of being "frugal" too sometimes. At those times I remind myself why we chose for me to be a SAHM and that it won't last forever (plan is for me to go back to work when DD is three but still have no idea what I'll do!).

Ok, DH is bugging me to get off the computer so here's some running news:

Ran 2 mins, 40 seconds 4 times as fast as I could at the track. Made
1.5 laps in 2:40 -- is that 1000 meters?
I finally got a run in... 3 miles, and pretty fast too since I was feeling so trapped at home.

I'm babysitting 2 kids for 3 days this week. In addition to my kids, that leaves me completely exhausted.

Going to play volleyball tonight, my regular Wednesday night volleyball.

newbie here

i would love some accountability.

i am a homeschooling SAHM of four children ages 9 months, 3, 5.5, 7.5

the 5yo walks too fast, the 3yo needs to be strollered, the 7yo wanders and the 9mo needs slinging so distance is not really my thing and neither is speed. in fact, I got a YMCA membership just to walk a mile or so at a time, but it is finally nicer here (70-90 degrees ) and I want to get out for an hour or so each evening. some days I am good about it. we live 3 min walk from a HUGE park which is lots of fun but it is so close i sometimes walk there and let them play and they're tired and we walk home....not enough exercise

just trying to glean some wisdom and chat a little and keep moving

Hello All! Popping back in-got my solo run in with the leaves this morning-it was beautiful out-went for only 30 min-but covered more ground than I usually do w. the stroller! It felt great-my legs felt strong-we have tons of hills around here, and usually I am feeling sluggish when I run around here.

Kerc-love the pic-your kids are beautiful!

eksmom-i can relate on the painting! good luck! we moved in june and have yet to paint anything-K's room first-but its so overwhelming, because I want to do everything! Everything here is the SAME color-and I mean everything-walls, ceiling, trim, doors-the same-its dizzying-and way too neutral-I love color

Shantimama-I am new here...what are you studying in school?

Geofizz and dawnadelle-volleyball-that is great! I am way uncoordinated for sports that require eye-hand coordination-or well, any coordination!

fromscatteredtribe, ashleigh, and kinsey- hello!

Oh-and I keep hearing about this emergen-C...what is it and where do you find it?

Hello to everyone! Hope you all had a happy and healthy day today!

Found this nifty calculator to find out how many laps a km is.

Bad news is Coach wanted me to do 2.5 laps in 2:40 and I could just do 1.5! Now I feel like a turtle.

fromscatteredtribe~ Hello! I'm a homeschooling SAHM to 4 children ages 7.5,6,4, and 2! I wish you luck on your adventure into bipedal excersise. I would not be able to run on a regular basis if it wasn't for my trusty dusty treadmill. I run almost every morning while the kids are asleep/having breakfast. My long run on the weekend is the only one I do out on the road. I am training for the Houston 1/2 marathon, and I hope to run some whole marathons after that.

To everyone else....I was watching the Wisconsin triathalon on OLN today while I was working. I was in awe of these amazing people(and a little jelous too!). When they showed them crossing the finish line I was crying. : What an experience! Maybe one of these days I will get my turn to do a tri!

My foot is still sore....I don't think I did myself any favors by running this morning. I think I just need some better arch supports. It happened to my other foot about a month ago when I ran 14 miles. Its the outside part of my foot. I know it will be better in a few days. I just need to stick to walking until its better.

Good night everyone!!

Hi everyone!
Just subbing for now, will post more after I get done visiting with the online students later this evening. Kerc - what a beautiful pair!

Welcome- fromscatteredtribe, Ashleigh & kinsey43!!

Well apparently I am not completely over this cold thing. I can't seem to get more than three steps without the immediate need for a tissue. Ugh! I did a very fast run this evening. Did my normal 25 minute loop in 22 mins. I was dying towards the end but it felt good. Tomorrow will be a slow and steady long run.

November goals:
1. At least one race.
2. 40 minutes or more most running days
3. Get my bootie over to the community center and finally sign up for Yoga.
4. 7 mile Long Run!!

dawnadelle - Yay for a run!! I can't imagine watching more than my two kiddos for any amount of time. Whew! That would be tiring!

lucenamama - WooHoo!! I wish we had a speedy runner smilie!

Patti Ann- Thinking of you...

ND- Remember to listen your body mama. It is still working thourgh itself. But sometimes you also need that good completely tiring workout too. Rest!!

Jenlove- Get out there on those beautiful days...you'll thank me in the deep of winter for not wasting them!!!

to everyone else. My head is started to throb so I'm off to tuck the kids into bed and probably myself.
