nursing wear

Thread Starter
I am planning to order some nursing sweaters for the cold months from motherwear.com

I am not sure what size sweaters to get since I am so huge now from the pregnancy and not sure how much of it will be lost right away and others gradually. Most people I see after their second babies tend to lose the weight slower despite nursing their child.

Any tips. Should I go one size up for one sweater and buy one normal size (well my prepregnancy size??).

Thanks

I have found that motherwear's sweaters tend to run small, although I've had good luck with their shirts (turtles and tees). I recently had to exchange several larges for extra-larges (what an ego boost - not). They are definitely not a generous/baggy cut in my opinion.

Motherwear's sweaters are generously sized, so I would definitely look at the size chart before ordering (a Medium from their sweaters is bigger than a Medium from The Gap, for instance). they take into account that most nursing women have different dimensions than they had pre-pregnancy. Most of their sweater styles are roomy, so they would fit post partum and after you lose some weight. You could call their 800# and inquire about the sizing of a specific style you are interested in - their customer service reps are very knowledgeable about the garments. I think they are having a sale right now (just got an email from them, I think...) I live in the same town as the Motherwear company and store, and love their stuff.

When I was pregnant with first, and ready to buy nursing wear, I called Motherwear, and they advised me to wait till afterbirth to buy the clothes, as their sizes are not pre-pregnancy. I find their sizes run large, but you can always return or exchange (they allow you to do this even after washing, because most of their clothes are only the "right size" after washing! I once ordered a dress in the smallest size and it came really long! I called and they told me to wash before trying- it shrunk 2 inches!!).
If you really want to buy before the baby is born, you will have to estimate then! I find my pounds really started shedding about 1 week after birth, about 1 pound a day!
