DH and I were discussing this. we couldn't come up with a name for DS to save our lives. everything we like doesnt go with our last name. it's Collette, very italian, very not going with anything i like.

We are 100% sure about a girls name. Have been for a little while.
Boys names are hard. The middle name will be James after dh's late father.

I always hesitate to tell people the girls name because its rather unusual and I always fear that someone will steal it. I hate to be copied but here it is:

Clover Bleu
or
Draven James

lotus.blossom - I love Clover for a first name! I promise not to steal it though. (I feel the same way about people stealing mine. )

Right now my fav's are:

Alivia Sage
Jude Alexander or some other middle name (dh still isn't lovin' Jude)

but I have been known to change the name just before or after the baby is born.

We have:

Esme Heidi for a girl
Campbell Alexander for a boy

All are family names except Esme, which is just a name I really like. Esme Heidi doesn't really flow very well, so we have talked about using Adelheid or Adelaide instead, but I figure how many times do you really use both your first and middle name anyway?

Esme is really beautiful.
Nice idea.

It brings to mind a Salinger short story, is that your intention?

None really here. I have a girls' name if I happen to give birth on my EDD to a girl, but otherwise it's likely to be a long painful process. (again.)

naia
maya

kalden for a boy

We are going in alphabetical order. i did ask dh if he wanted to go out of sync on this one, but he said no. I think he's gearing up for old age when A B C and D are easier to remember. We already have an AA, BB, and CC so this one is going to be Dian Dacey or Dacy Diane if a girl. (first name four letters is also a pattern we have). We haven't come up with any boy names yet. Except maybe Drake.

You mama's have all picked out some good names

Thank you. I didn't consciously take it from Love and Squalor, although who knows, maybe that's where the seed was first planted!

There are some lovely name ideas here (which I promise not to steal!) I like Naia/Naiya. I don't think I've ever even heard that name before, but it's really striking. LotusBlossom, Clover is very pretty and unique. Midwestmom, I love Jude! (But if you do choose to use it, don't ever see the movie by that name with Kate Winslet. Very depressing and will create bad associations with the name.)

Kirstie, I think your alphabetical method is a wonderful! And Dacy is a neat name. It's very close to the name of a character (Dicey) in my favourite childhood books. (Dicey's Song, Homecoming, and the rest of that series by Cynthia Voigt.)

Great minds think alike, right? My son's name is very close to Kalden as well.

For a boy:

Devin Joseph (DJ)

For a Girl:

Trinity Rose

I actually love MY name and would love to name a dd after myself but dh says no.

that's funny- i worry about the stealing name thing too!

for a DD it will be Illyria Catherine and for a DS we have totally agreed yet, but I really like Declan Patrick.

those names are really pretty. see i have rules about stuff like this... the first name cannot end in the same sound as the last name begins, like jack collette. the first name cannot start with the same sound as the last name, like kate collette. so far we like

GIRL
Maria Grace
Loren Anne (my grandmother's name is lorena anne, so that's why we spelled loren this way)

no boys names yet.

Girls:
Claire Elisabeth
Sarah
Katherine "Kate"
Leah

Boys:
"Charlie" (Charles Edward) (this is the only boy's name, in the whole world, that DH likes)

I also really like Naia/Naiya--those are pretty.

I think we're going to have a hard time with girl names--I have never really liked girls names for long. Ten bucks says whatever names I tell you here for girls I won't like in three months. Boys will be easier, because there are a lot of boys names I like. (And I *really* want this baby to be a boy, so I'm hoping I never even have to come up with a girl's name at all.)

That said, we are only in the very beginning of the talk about names. For girls, I like Adrienne (DH doesn't like it, though), Lyla/Lilah...hm. that's about it that I can think of. For boys names I like: Clay, Lyle (these two are definitely my top choices at this moment), Ansel, Lucas/Luke, Charles, Nicolaus, Aidan, Jack.

I am afraid I may miss some good ones, though, if we just pull names out of the air (or off of TV), so at some point we will probably get a baby name book and make some lists.

I likew augustin, Gus for short . Augustin Collette sounds very strong. I also love Henry and George (i named my dd Edith )

No girls names that really go with your last name, but I love Clare and Maeve

When I was pregnant with DD, we had picked out Tobin Michael (DH's brother is Michael) and Amelie Grace (Grace is my late grandmother's name). Since we used up the girl's name, we'll have to come up with another one, but I'm hoping it's a boy! We'll probably call him Toby for short.

My cousins name is Devin Joseph! Great name!
I'm loving all the unique names!

Some other names that I'm partial to:
Zephyr
Magnolia
Audrey
or
Finley
Rowan
Cian

I'm big on the celtic names because dh and I are both of scottish/irish descent.
