Finn Willem was born on Nov 3rd! He came into the world at 10:09 pm. For pictures of the labor and birth, check out this website! http://consciousdev.com/
Here's how my L&D went...
Despite all my better judgement, I checked in to be induced at 7:30 that morning. By 8:30am my MW had given me prostaglandin gel and warned me that "sometimes it causes a long hard contraction, but you shouldn't worry" Well, at 8:45am Finn's heart rate dropped to 80 and I was on my hands and knees getting an IV and wearing an oxygen mask. They injected me with some sort of stimulant to make my uterus relax, and also made me shake uncontrollably for about an hour...that was incredibly frightening. Needless to say, that tactic DIDN'T work. So I walked the halls until about 2pm, when I was rechecked and hadn't made any progress. MW told me I needed to go home and camo back or agree to pitocin. I called DP and we discussed it. I decided that I would tough it out and finish the induction. Dp arrived at 2:30pm and they began the pitocin drip. We walked that halls togther for about two hours, and around 5pm the contractions started to get bad. My MW had accidentally broken my waer while she was checking me. I went into my room and we used the b-ball, rocking chair, and lots of massage. Around 7pm, my friend showed up(massage therapist!) and I began to scream through the contractions. The pitocin was giving me contractions that lasted 5 mins, followed by three min breaks. They asked me if I was ready for my epidural...HAHAHA. I told them there would be no epidural! I did ask for a narcotic to be put into my IV. It didn't seem to relieve pain as much as relax me enough to focus on breathing. At this point I was about 7cm...
At 8pm I was slow dancing with DP and began to feel like pushing. I was 9 cm and MW streched my cervix to 10 for me. FINALLY, some relief. However, due to the narcotic, it took 1hr and 45 mins to push Finn out. I was amazed how good it felt to push and feel streched compared to having contractions!! My MW was able to massage me enough that I had no tearing, just some "skid marks". Finn had the cord wrapped around his neck twice, and had some more heart rate drops towards the end of the delivery. DP caught him (I'm so proud!!) and cut the cord. All the pictures of Finn being messed with are due to his HR and lack of color when he came out. I wasn't able to BF right away like I had planned, but at least Finn is OK. They gave him to me after about ten minutes, and I BF and then fell asleep! I was so tired!
Finn is doing ok now...his ped held him longer because of HR, color, bilirubin level (which is only 9), and a heart murmur that was gone on his third day.
I guess I know which ped we won't be using!!!
Finn is great, he is so alert when he is awake and so beautiful when he sleeps. He only cries during diaper changes! I'M SO IN LOVE!!!!

Thanks everyone for your warm wishes!
