Can anyone recommend a good family cell phone plan?

DH & I have Tracfones at the moment (pre-paid). DH uses his phone A LOT though so we're wondering if we'd get a better deal on a regular phone plan? Maybe something with unlimited calling between family members & "x" amount of anytime/anywhere minutes each month?

Honestly, I've never had a regular cell phone so I don't know much about them.

Oh, and at the moment DH is easily averaging at least 10 min a day on his phone. We buy a 100 min card for $30, but have a "doubler" on it so we're currently getting 200 min a month for $30. There's my phone usage to figure in too, but it's pretty minimal. I got over 300 minutes back in July & I still have almost 200 of them to use.

Any recommendations?

Well we have a family share plan with Verizon, its a national plan so we can travel cross country amd its 69.99 a month plus tax for 700 daytime minutes and unlimited nights and weekends. We hardly ever use all the minutes but since dh is self employed its a business expense. I was told $69.99 was the lowest family plan I could get, on the other hand I have been a verizon customer for years and find them to be a good carrier. HTH

Another verizon plan person here. I like that all evenings (after 9:00) and all weekend calls are free/no minutes, it helps to really cut down our long distance. All calls between verison customers are free too. I sound like a sales person, but we really researched it before signing up for $70+/month for 2 years, and I've been really pleased.

Hope that helps,

I think they're all comperable price wise, I'd check with people you talk to a lot via cell phones and see what they have.

ITA...my mom and I share a family plan through T Mobile--$50 for 500 shared minutes, free weekends, and free mobile to mobile. DH gets a cell through work, so mom and I decided to do the family plan instead. We picked T Mobile partially because they had the cheapest family plan (we don't need 2000 minutes) and partially because my brother and sister and aunt all have T Mobile, so we all can call each other for free. It's worked out well...we don't come anywhere near our minute limits, because most of our calls are either to a family member's cell or on the weekends.

I would check with others in your area first to see which ones have good coverage for your area. My don't have coverage for Tmobile in our area, and our Verizon didn't work so well in this area (couldn't get a signal 75% of the time).

We currently have Cingular, free mobile to mobile, rollover minutes, 450 anytime minutes and unlimited nights and weekends for $59 a month (2 phones).
