Thermostat Wars

Someone help referee the ongoing fight over the heat settings in my house!

Our house is old, draughty, and soooo expensive to heat (oil furnace : ) We use the woodstoves as much as possible, but also use the furnace.

I spent an *hour* programming the dang digital thermostat with what I thought were reasonable settings, but dh finds it too cold...so let me know what you think!

Overnight I have it set to 16. Dd is in an undershirt, sox, and fleece sleeper - I have a sleep sack too if she needs. On our bed we have sheet, blanket (thick cotton) and comforter. I think it's lovely and toasty in the bed...

During the day it's at 18. I wear a l/s shirt, and sweater if I'm not running around. Dd is in undershirt, l/s top, pants and sox, and seems perfectly comfortable.

Now to be fair, dh has *no* additional insulation, whereas I'm definitely on the squidgy side, but are these settings really out to lunch??? I actually think they're probably on the high side...but I'm willing to be told that I'm wrong I really hate to burn more oil than we have to, even with it capped at 75cents per litre

I have been having wars with dh, also. He is much skinnier than I (not to mention I'm pregnant), but I have it set to 68 degrees F, which is, I think, 19. I don't change it during the night because even I am a little chilly by that. We do bundle up at night, and have blankets. But, I figure if it does come on, we need it.

babybumblebee. I keep mine much the same. DH and I have fought over temp for 9 years now...in the summer and winter. I say you can always but on a sweater but I can't walk around naked. I feel bad though as he has been wearing a touque to bed lately .

OMG - that's too funny! I may have to suggest that to dd - I did buy him some fantastic flannel pj's but then he complains that he's too hot

We've been keeping ours at 64 round the clock. It's a bit chilly for me since I sleep topless for the nursling's sake but I'm trying to make a go of it. I'm a bit worried at what our heating bill is going to be this year.

We keep ours between 16 and 18 too.

Well, it is off right now, and we have been having such a warm November, that it is 21 degrees in here, and I need to open the windows.

65 (18) during the day and 60 (15.5) at night. DH keeps kicking it up in the evening when he wakes up (works nights) too, but everytime I walk by I kick it back down.

Were terrible its 65 when we are gone. When I get home it bumps to 72, just to warm me up a bit and then stays at 70 until we go to sleep. Its at 67 when we sleep and thats us with a sheet, blanket, down comforter, and bedspread on. Then in the am it switches back to 70 until we leave for work.
